"Come in," a deep voice calls from inside the office.

The doors seem to almost open on there own, until I look behind them to see two maids opening the doors for him.

"Sit," is all he says, and I do. "Now tell me, what is it you want to speak with me about?"

"The assassination you sent me on," he nods for me to continue, "I would like to decline it."

My hands shake nervously in my lap, the hairs on the back of my neck stand.

"On what terms?" He asks with his brow raised, he moves forward to lace his hands together and place his elbows on the table.

"Personal."

"Ah, I see you've given me a dose of my own medicine," he grins wickedly, "I suppose I can appease this request," he sits back in his chair allowing his arms to rest on its sides.

What? That easy? Seems a little odd, but who knows, maybe he does care for me a little. After all, he did raise me for a year.

"Thank you, now if that's all I would be on my way," I nod to him before standing up and heading for the door.

"Knox," I turn to face him, "you know what happens if you betray me, correct?" I visibly swallow.

"Yes boss," I nod.

"Good," he nods me in the direction of the door, and I do as told.

Lorenzo POV:

As the door closes on Knox's departure I call for the maids.

"Bring in Summers," I rarely speak directly to them, but when I do I love their reactions. Their faces pale and their eyes widen a little, their breaths quicken and their heart thumps. I am their predator and they are my prey.

The doors once again opens and he steps through.

"You've summoned me?" He says.

"I have a few questions about your assignment, sit down," I gesture to the chair Knox had previously sat in.

Once seated he begins, "what would you like to know?"

"How much information has Miss Summers gathered?"

"My sister is doing well, although they don't tell her too much as of now."

"Shame," I sigh, I tap my finger against my jaw, thinking, yes. "I have a small task for you."

"Yes?"

Onyx POV:

Instead of unpacking I chuck everything into my clothes basket, shit! Dammit!

I head to the basket to pick up the clothes that had fallen.

"I guess I should probably take these down to the laundry, it's getting a little too full," sighing I pick up the basket let and head for the door.

My hands are full with clothes so I opt to use my elbow to twist the door knob and kick it open with my foot. Talent.

Once again utilising my elbow, I press the button for basement floor.

I always seem to get songs stuck in my head, today is no different.

"It goes all my troubles on a burning pile," I sing lowly.

"All lit up and I start to smile," I place the basket on the floor and open the machine.

"If I catch fire, then I'll change my aim" I shove the last of my clothes into the machine and slam the door.

"Throw my troubles at the pearly gates," I poor the liquid into the machine as I raise my voice at the last word.

"Hey," I scream and jump back, hitting my hip on the laundry. "Woah, woah, calm down. It's just me," I look up to see Luke smiling down at me.

"Jesus Christ! Don't scare me like that!" I shove him.

He chuckles, "nice voice," he smirks.

"Mother fucker," I throw the basket at his head and he swiftly dodged.

"Hey, I'm complementing you!" He giggles.

"Yeah right," I scoff he just laughs again. "You don't look to have laundry, so what brought you down to the basement?"

"Oh, actually about that, I saw you enter the elevator on your floor, I can to tell you something but when I went to enter the elevator with you the doors had already closed so I went down the stairs instead," he looks at me sheepishly.

"What is it?" I look at him concerned, what could he possibly need to tell me?

"Well I may or may not have over heard your conversation with the twins in the forest," he looks at me, deeply.

"What the hell?! What were you doing spying on me?" I hiss, "that was none of your business!"

"I swear I didn't do it on purpose! I was just going for a walk when I saw you guys, I was gonna go over and say hi but you were busy!"

"So that gives you the right to stay and listen!"

"No, I'm sorry," he sighs, running his hand through his hair, "you're right you shouldn't have done that."

"You shouldn't have. So what was it you had to tell me?"

"Well I heard you say that Knox was going to tell his boss that he declined the hit today."

"Yeah? What about it?"

"He didn't."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, he never went to his boss."

"And how would you know?"

"I am also in the gang, lower down though may I add, but I'm still there. So when I heard that, I decided to head to the bosses house to see if he'd do what he said, he didn't."

"What?" My heart falls from my chest, why would he do that? Why would he lie?

"I'm sorry, I think it was a part of his plan, to gain your trust, and your heart," his eyes are full of sympathy.

"No. No!" I fall to the floor, tears blur my vision and my hands shake. How could he do this to me?! Oh and Val, what's going to happen to her now?!

I feel the weight of arms wrapping around me, but my world fades.

"He doesn't deserve your tears," Luke wipes away my cheek.

"You know what? You're right," he doesn't deserve my tears, he doesn't deserve me. I don't even know why I trusted him, I don't know why I believed him!

If he plans to kill me, then I guess I'll just have to do it first.
