Being pregnant was something Allison couldn't fully grasp. She had been a recovering addict for 5 months until she was put into an induced coma for the next 2. She remembers waking up to see an extremely swollen belly, with a full term baby swishing around in her stomach. She loved the feeling of being pregnant, the idea of how she created a little tiny being. Allison didn't even know it was a girl until the doctor put her on her chest.
The past couple weeks, her little sister had been coming more and more anxious about giving birth. They had set their differences aside and spoke every morning since the entire world shut down. Summer was now rounding the corner and all Alli wanted to do was go to the beach, lay out in the sun, and soak up all the vitamin D she's been missing. The couple had been planning a trip to Florida or California - both places Brian loved to visit but could never move. He was a Staten Island boy, through and through.
Allison snapped out of her day dream because her phone was buzzing on the side table next to her. She was trying to soak up whatever sun she could - the duplex was at an awkward angle.
"Hey sissy, what's up?" She lifted her sunglasses to see Melinda's red face covered in sweat. "Alli, I need you to come home! I can't have this baby alone!" Allison sat upright in an instant, squinting into the phone at her sister. "Sedrick won't be here until the 5th! I can't do it alone!"
"Calm down Mel! I'll get a bag packed and I'll be there in like 6 hours, okay? Send me the address!" "Hurry the fuck up, please!" Her baby sister groaned again before hanging up the phone. Allison's heart raced as she ran inside to get her things together. As she packed, she dialed the first number she could think of in this exact situation. "Yes?" Calvin answered, causing the mother of his child to roll her eyes. "Hey, I'm gonna need to drop Paige off now. I know its a few days early-" "Yeah, your date night is going to have to wait, I have to work-" "Melinda's in labor. She really needs me right now." "She's a grown woman, just like you Alli. She'll be fine."
Allison scuffed and stopped what she was doing, putting her hand on her hip. "I did it all alone. It's terrifying and I refuse to let her be by herself. If you can't take her a day early then why take her at all?" "Okay okay, I'll just drop her off at my moms in the morning. I'll be home in an hour." "I'll be there," Allison told him, hanging up before anymore protests aroused. She hated the fact Calvin got to see their daughter, because it terrified her.
She pushed her thoughts aside and continued to pack her back before calling Brian - who was at a Dr's appointment. "What's up baby?" Brian answered, sending her heart racing once again. "Melinda's in labor, so I'm packing a bag and sending Paige with her father." "Oh man, labor? I've got a dry cough and I thought I was going to die!" Allison laughed and zipped her suitcase shut. "Can I come too?" Allison thought for a moment. Of course the answer was she wanted him to come more than anything, but she was worried of Melinda's reaction.
"When will you be home?" She asked instead, grabbing a second bag to pack for Brian. Brian smiled on the other end of the phone and hung up, opening the bedroom door to tackle her until the silk sheets. "You're sneaky! I didn't even hear the door!" "Sneaky like ninja," Brian joked, kissing all over Allison's sun kissed face. Allison sighed and let Brian move his lips to her neck and collar bone. "Mmm," Allison got lost for a moment, forgetting what she had been doing. "Okay babe! The baby is on its way." "Yikes, boner kill." Brian stood up off the bed and grabbed the bag Allison packed as she went through the few drawers she had at his house to get some clothes.
