All week Brian had been in an awful mood, taking it out on anyone that annoyed him the slightest. For example Murr's chewing cause him to receive a slap on the back of the head, dropping his food all over his shoes.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" James yelled at his friend who was storming off the set. Joe helped his one friend clean up while the other ran off to comfort Brian.

"Brian, what's going on with you lately, huh?" Sal stood in front of his friend who was trying to open his car door. "Look I don't know what it is or what you've got going on, but you need to relax."

"Allison hasn't really been talking to me all that much since the night after we fucked."
"First of all, maybe it's because you say it like that." Sal suggested, trying to get a small smile out of his life long friend. "Look, maybe she's just been busy. You even told me she's working hard for this promotion. It's got to be important to her."

Brian nodded his head, with was throbbing hard each second he thought about Ali.
"You're right. I'm losing my fuckin mind lately Sal."
"What do you mean?" Sal leaned against the car next to Brian, wanting him to vent like he always did.

"I've just..I don't know...it's not just Allison. It's me. I'm 44 years old and I'm getting older and that scares me. I've lived a good life, one I wouldn't regret. In six years I'll be halfway to 100. That means my life is halfway over. What am I here for Sal?" Brian looked up at his friend with soft, teary eyes.

Sals heart broke. He knew where this was going. Brian had struggled with depression for as long as he had known him. He had his ups more often than his downs, but boy when it hit, it hit hard.

"Listen buddy. You are my best friend, I'll always look for the best for you, okay? Are you still seeing Kimberly?" That was Brian's long time therapist - she knew every detail of his life and helped him through some of his darkest times.

"Jesus Sal I stopped seeing her years ago. I think I'm just realizing that the best of my years are already over with." He rubbed his eyes and looked up at his friend. "Let's just go back in there so I can apologize to Murray."

"I mean the slurping was unnecessary." Sal always knew how to make Brian smile, even when he's down.
"It doesn't help my head is complete static and pain."
"Go lay down and I'll get you some water, just rest a while."

James accepted Brian's apology and they hugged it out as usual when any of them snap. They've known each other 30 years, they are bound to want to kill each other on a daily basis.
"I have a surprise for you by the way, but it can wait until you feel better."
"If it's a punishment, man, I'm not in the mood," Brian shook his head and brushed past Murray, who had a shit eating grin on his face.

In the room, Brian closed his eyes in the pitch black. This has happened to often to him, they decided to put a futon that pulls out into a very comfortable bed in the dark, small, spare room of their studio. People use it during hangovers, seasonal sicknesses, menstrual cramps.
