~~"Hey" Tobias smiled as he watched Trinity walked out of the hair salon with black knotless braids that had white ombré ends. She had on a pair of grey sweatpants and a white tank top.
"Thanks for coming with me" Trinity smiled and Tobias nodded opening the passenger door for her.
"Can I drive?" Trinity asked and Tobias's eyes widened some before he shrugged handling her the keys.
"Sure if you want" He said and Trinity smile as she took the keys. They got into the car and Trinity started the car.
"Does your hair hurt?" He asked and Trinity shook her head. "I'm not tender headed" she shrugged before pulling out of the parking lot.
"Lucky" He mumbled and Trinity laughed looking at him.
"You tender headed?" She asked to which He nodded his head to.
"How your hair is so" Trinity paused as she glanced at it.
"White people straight?" He said to which she laughed nodding her head.
"I mean yeah" she shrugged as she got onto the highway.
"My hair gets really tangled sometimes and it is a bitch to comb out" He said making Trinity laugh as she rolled down her window.
"So that's what you wearing to the bunch?" Tobias asked and Trinity shook her head.
"No I have a change of clothes in my bag" She said and Tobias frowned some.
"What bag?"
"The one I got in this car with" Trinity laughed and Tobias looked around to see a bag in the backseat.
"I'm going to be honest and tell you that I didn't even notice you had a bag with you when you got in the car"Trinity smiled at him and shrugged her shoulders as she drove the car. Tobias relaxed in the seat and sighed.
"So do you have a good relationship with your mom?" Tobias asked and Trinity shook her head.
"Not really. Growing up my mom always had more of a likening to my sister Sola than she did me. My dad though he loved me and always made sure I had a smile on my face. When he died, my mom kinda just lost her connection of being a mother to me" Trinity said as she sighed.
"I don't know how to explain it exactly" she then mumbled before moving her braid out of her face.
"Wow"
"I mean don't get me wrong I'm sure she has some type of love for me but just not the kind of love that a child needs from their parent." Trinity glanced at Tobias who was nodding his head to her statement.
"That must be hard" Tobias started but Trinity shook her head.
"Honestly not really I mean sure it was hard when I was living with her but now that I'm an adult and out the house, it really doesn't bother me anymore."
There was a small silence in the car as Trinity continued to drive. Tobias was looking out the window and he frowned.
"Growing up in different foster homes every year I always use to wish for my birth parents to come for me. I don't know why I wanted them because I mean they abandoned me but I always use to have hope that they would come for me." Tobias said as he sighed. Trinity glanced at him and frowned some as she looked back at the road.
"Blood family always is more complicated and complex than it needs to be." Trinity said to which Tobias nodded his head to.
"But that's why we are able to chose our friends and at some point they will become more of a family to you than our blood" Tobias said and Trinity smiled nodding her head.
"Friends is family in cursive" Trinity laughed and Tobias smiled looking over at her.
"Okay but I do think it's time for me to warn you about my family." Trinity said making the boy to smirk and nod.
"Now I say this respectfully but they can be a little bit racist sometimes so I just want to warn you now and apologize to you now in advance." Trinity said rolling her eyes as she sighed.
"Okay" Tobias and as he nodded his head and Trinity sent him an apologetic smile before looking back at the road.
"Okay so you have my grandma who is basically the Queen of my family. If she doesn't like something, most likely whatever it is will never happen and be talked about again. Grandma is the sweetest you will ever meet though don't get me wrong about that but she can be cold when she wants to be." Trinity paused as she smiled some while her mind wandered to memories of her grandmother.
"My mom is really much like her but even colder sometimes. She will talk about someone to their face with a biggest smile of her face. She is very blunt which I kind of get from her. She is also sensitive even though she doesn't want to admit so don't let that cold exterior fool you." Trinity rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue before clearing her throat.
"My sister is basically my mother's little pet. She is the best to be around when my mom isn't involved but as soon as my mother is, then Sola becomes this little puppet that only my mom can use. She hates letting my mom down and will literally follow whatever she says no matter what she thinks about it."
"I do have a brother that basically my mom threw out of our lives for reasons I don't even fucking know. I haven't talked to him since I was like I don't know maybe twelve or so. He was like my freaking idol. We were the closest you could ever see siblings and he also stood up for me. I use to call him my little knight in shining glares because he was famous for glaring at people even when he was just a kid."
Trinity sighed and shook her head as memories and flashbacks began to hit her. She bit her lip and Tobias looked over at her to see her tearing up some. "I really do miss him sometimes and I wish I knew where he was so I can could just hug him you know?" Trinity looked at Tobias who nodded his head. He reached over and laced their fingers together making Trinity smile through her tears.
"God I miss him" she mumbled under her breath as she wiped her eye quickly before focusing back on the road.
