Darryl POV

281 days. That's how long I've been trapped here.

I hadn't seen another person for 281 days. I hadn't seen Zak for 281 days. I hadn't seen my friends for longer.

Were Harvey and Geo even alive at this point? Was Zak? Or Clay? Or was Clay discovered? I had no idea.

Counting the days was the only thing keeping me from going completely insane trapped in here. I couldn't think about anything else in fear of losing it.

However, my mind couldn't stop thinking about that night. Was there any way we could've prevented the outcome? I wasn't sure.

Each night I would awake in a cold sweat. My mind replaying the horrific events of that night and the many days before it. Watching Zak get tortured, my torture, which memories seemed to enjoy returning small bits of it to remember, and the soldiers. Their rifels aimed at Zak and I and them escorting us to the vans that returned us to the facility. Them separating us. And worst of all, Zak's screams as he was torn from my side. The horrific sound constantly ringing in my ears.

A sharp hissing of air escaping a lock made me jump. Someone was coming into my cell. I was going to see someone for the first time in 281 days.

The dark metal door swung open and I half hoped it was like that night. Someone coming to my rescue, where I could reunite with Zak and escape.

But, that faded half a second later and a single guard walked into my room. He walked over to me and I shivered.

It all flooded through my memory clear as day and I couldn't move. The guard grabbed my arm and I screamed.

I felt an odd sensation course through my body starting at my toes. It felt like ice cold chills and sweltering heat at the same time. I wanted to curl up in a blanket and pour a bucket of ice cold water on my self at the same time.

My senses sharpened. Especially my vision. The usually dim room now appearing as bright as a sunny day. Thankfully it didn't seem to hurt my eyes.

There was a sudden weight on my back and in my fist.

I looked down to see myself gripping a gleaming blue sword. Just like Harvey and Geo that night…

The guard, who now seemed much shorter, scrambled back, reaching for a device that looked like a radio on his shoulder.

I reached out and crushed it. Superhuman strength flowing through my veins. My skin seemed almost… transparent. And pitch black like the night.

Anger clouded my vision. This was their fault… It was time to make them pay.

I slashed my sword across his neck with ease, leaving the guard partially decapitated and bleeding put on the cell floor. I grabbed his ID and gun.

I slowly crept out into the hallway and shut the door cautiously behind me with the guards ID card. The hiss of the air signifying that it was locked.

Alright… I only have a matter of time before they realize I escaped. First things first, I have to find Zak and the others if they're here. My heart was racing.

I hurried through the halls. I couldn't find anything. But then I spotted a door labeled 'Control'.

I walked to the door and pressed my ID against the sensor.

"Invalid ID. Higher classification level required" A thickly accented robotic voice announced. I cringed at the loud noise in the quiet environment.
