Darryl POV

I grinned as I walked out of my apartment and next door to Zak's apartment. I knocked on the door, anxiety building up in me.

Zak opened the door, in his usual light blue hoodie and jeans. His stunning smile lighting up the room and causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.

"Hey Darry!" Zak laughed and hugged me.

I gently hugged him back and pressed a kiss on the top of his head. "Hey muffin..."

I held my hand out to him and he grabbed it. "Are you ready for our date?"

Zak eagerly nodded and followed me as I dragged him by his hand outside.

"Alright close your eyes." I told Zak. He complied and I tied a blindfold over his eyes.

He sighed. "Wow Darry a blindfold?"

I rolled my eyes, "Yes now stand still."

I finished tying the blindfold and guided him to the car and assisted him in sitting down and buckling up.

As soon as I finished I hopped into the driver's seat and started driving. Zak and I bantered a bit but overall it was mostly filled with comfortable silence.

We arrived and I helped Zak out of the car and scooped him up bridal style and carried him.

We arrived at the spot just as I had left it an hour earlier.

I set Zak down softly on the green grass and untied the blindfold.

He gasped. "Darry you did all this for me?"

I nodded.

We were in a clearing surrounded by tall trees and a small mountainside. On the edge of the mountainside was a waterfall and a small pond at the bottom. Earlier today I had come and set up fairy lights stringing around the area that now looked beautiful in the darker lighting. A small picnic blanket and basket lay in the middle of the clearing.

We sat down and ate before Zak decided to play in the water. Which I had anticipated. He jumped in the water and I smiled as he splashed around.

He somehow managed to convince me to get in and I followed him in the water where we splashed each other and messed around in the cold water.

When we had finished Zak and I walked back to the car where I handed him a pair of clothes and a towel and shooed him away so we could change.

I opened the trunk of my car and changed into a black and red suit. My anxiety skyrocketed and I took a deep breath. Everything was going as planned. Perfect.

I found Zak back in the clearing in a light blue suit. I pressed play on my phone and giggled at how he jumped when music started playing from a few speakers I had hidden in the trees.

I held my hand out. "May I have this dance?"

Zak took my hand. "Of course."

By now it had grown so dark that the only light was those coming from the moon, stars, and the twinkling lights around us.

We waltzed under the sky, I leaned in at the beat drop and connected our lips, my hand fingering the small box in my pocket as I did so.

Now was the time to do it. It was the perfect moment and there was no time for hesitation.

I pulled back from the kiss and locked eyes with Zak, his dark mocha eyes filled with amazement. My worries faded immediately and my heart fluttered. I knew I was making the right choice.

I took a deep breath and slowly knelt down. Drawing the box from my pocket. "Zak I honestly don't know what to say. You are my everything. You are the most amazing person I've ever met and I don't know how I managed to find someone so perfect." I opened the box to reveal a ring inside. This was the moment. "Zak I knew the day I set eyes on you that you were the one for me. You're my other half, my lifeline, my love, and my soulmate. And I hope to be able to call you my husband. Zak will you marry me?"

Zak POV

Tears pricked at my eyes. My hand covered my mouth and I couldn't say a word. My mind was racing. I tried to make myself say something, anything. But my mouth couldn't form words. Joy burst out of me in an ecstatic laugh.

I finally managed to say something. "YES! OH MY GOD YES!"

I leapt forward and into his open arms, wrapping my own tightly around his body. I buried my face in his shoulder, sobbing blissfully. I refused to let go of him for long after, but I finally did. Darryls eyes were sparkling with tears and he pulled the ring out of the box and slid it onto my finger.

I admired its beauty, it was a silver band with a light blue gem and the band wrapped around it with dark red gems embedded in the metal.

I turned my attention to my now fiance and couldn't help but laugh. I kissed him passionately and pulled back, leaning my forehead against his. "Darry I love you so much."

"I love you more." He smiled contentedly.

I rolled my eyes. "You know that's a lie but I'll let it slide for now."

"Sure, you believe that." Darryl laughed as I punched him playfully.

"Ow! Not with the ring that's sharp!" Darryl giggled.

I stopped and hugged him again. And I drifted off in his arms.
