Your POV
It's been 6 months since you moved to Amity Park, and you've been loving it. Danny, Sam and Tucker are the best friends you could've asked for. KC stopped talking to you after she got a boyfriend, so Sam had become your new best friend. You still were gracious that they accepted you into their group. And other than the frequent ghost attacks, life was going on as normal. Other than Danny. Something was up with him and you could tell. Every time there was a ghost attack it seemed like he always disappeared and then reappeared with some lame excuse after the attack. You just put it down to coincidence, but deep down you knew something else was wrong.
As you stuck some books in your locker and grabbed your stuff for your last class, you smiled when you thought about Danny. There was definitely some feelings there. And speak of the devil, you turned and saw him walking towards you. He waved and came to your locker.
"What do you think about coming to the Nasty Burger with me tonight," he asked you. "I'm having some trouble on Lancers homework and Tucker and Sam refuse to help for some reason," he said staring at you. You could feel a light pink blush spreading on your cheeks and you turned back to your locker to avoid his eyes.
"Yeah sure," you replied. "I have to finish up some stuff so I'll meet you there at 4?" He grinned
"Sounds good," he said as you closed your locker. "4 it is." You and him parted and you started walking towards your next class, grinning happily. You assumed Sam and Tucker wouldn't help him because Sam knew you had a little crush on Danny. She probably forced Tucker to say no. As you approached you class, you saw Sam coming towards you from the opposite direction. You waited at the door for her and when she noticed you she smirked.
"So did you say yes?" She questioned. You raised an eyebrow at her and she shrugged. "I may or may not have refused to help him and also threatened Tucker if he didn't say no," she said. You laughed then you both went into class, taking your respective seats next to each other.
"I'm not even sure he's gonna show," you said. "I feel like every time we go to do something he's late or cancels at the last minute," you looked down sadly. Sams eyes looked concerned for you and you went deep into thought about all the times Danny had left you hanging. Many. Many times. You just hoped that this time would be different and you wouldn't be left alone for an hour after he was supposed to show up.
"I'm sure he'll show," said Sam confidently. You looked up at her and she smiled. You smiled back and then turned to face the teacher just as class started.

After class ended you grabbed your stuff from your locker and bid goodbye to Sam. Texting your mom, you told her you were going to be home late because you were helping a friend study. She agreed and you headed off towards the Nasty Burger. When you got there you claimed the groups regular booth and ordered a milkshake while you waited. She came back with your drink and you pulled out some of your homework. "May as well do something while I'm waiting" you thought. So you started on your homework. Half an hour later you looked at the clock and furrowed your brows. You continued working until 5:30. Finishing the last sentence on your assignment, you glanced at the clock and saw how late it was. You looked down and felt hot tears come to your eyes. "I knew it." You rounded up all your stuff and slapped down some money to pay for your drink. You put on your backpack and headed home.On your way home you bit your lip to keep yourself from crying. Why didn't he show up? Why does he never show up? Why did you keep forgiving him? Thoughts scrambled through your head and you picked up your pace. Turning down your street you saw your neighbours big lab on the top of their house, making you even more upset. You practically ran past their house until you heard someone call your name.
"Y/n!" You turned around to see a red faced Danny sprinting towards you. You didn't notice he was holding his ribs on his right side. He panted as he came up towards you. "I-...I am so-... so sorry," he huffed out between breaths. You scowled and started to turn away before he saw your teary eyes but he grabbed your wrist. "Y/n. I'm sorry. I got distracted and completely forgot," he said sincerely. You went to grab your wrist back but he held fast. He poked his head around you to look you in the eyes. You bit your lip again and avoided looking at him, but it was impossible. You watched his face drop and took the chance to rip your wrist from him. "No wait-..."
"No Danny! No I'm not going to wait anymore. I waited for and hour and a half for you and you didn't show up. Again!" You said your voice breaking at the end. He looked at you and his mouth opened and closed again and you laughed in disbelief.
"Y/n-..."
"What, Danny. What do you want," you spoke angrily. He looked down and you sighed, feeling the hot tears against your eyes again. "You know, you were the first real friend I made when I came here. At least I thought we were friends. Maybe I was wrong," you said
"That's not it-..." he started but you held up your hand.
"If you don't want me to hang around with you anymore or you don't like me, just tell me. Just stop playing around with me. I'm sick of it," you said and with that last word you couldn't stop the tears from falling. You could see pain in his face and you winced. This wasn't like you. Harshness was reserved for jerks like Dash. He took a deep breath in before starting.
"Like I said," he started and you noticed his voice broke on the words. He stopped and gathered himself before continuing. "I am so, so sorry. Something came up and I just couldn't slip away," he said softly. You stared at him and shook your head.
"The same thing has been coming up every time we plan to hang out. The same excuses keep coming out every time. What is it, Danny, that makes you not want to hang out with me,?" You questioned. His eyes went wide and he shook his head.
"It's nothing about you. Of course I want to hang out with you," he said stepping closer to you. "It's just.... complicated," he said sighing, his black hair hanging over his eyes. You took another step backwards towards your house.
"Well I'm sorry," you said quietly. "I just can't do this. I just-... I need to go," you turned towards your house. You turned to face him one more time and wished you hadn't. His face was dull, his eyes red and watery.
"Y/n-..." You went into your house without looking back again. Once you closed the door you ran up to your room and ripped the blinds closed so you didn't have to see the house next to yours. Sitting on your bed, you put on a hoodie, curled up in it and cried.
