Your POV

"What are you doing?" You asked. You opened your bedroom door to find Phantom looking at one of the pictures on your wall. When he turned to face you, you realized what photo it was. You set the supplies down on your desk and walked over to the photo, gently taking it down and placing it into your desk. You could feel your eyes sting as you put the picture away. When your turned back towards Phantom, he had a concerned look on his face and was watching you carefully. You featured for him to sit back down on your bed and he complied.

You silently turned and grabbed a pad and antiseptic off your desk and set them on your bed. Rolling your chair towards where Phantom perched on the edge of your bed, you looked up at him and sighed. His bandages had a little green seeping through it. He looked down and winced.

"Oops." You shook your head at him, cracking a small smile. You started to unwrap the gauze and felt his neon eyes watching you. As you unwrapped him, you could feel cold air radiating off of his skin. You furrowed your brows.

"Can I ask you something?" You said. He looked at you and raised an eyebrow.

"Can I ask YOU something?" He asked you back. You stopped unwrapping him and looked at him. He stared into your eyes and you blinked in surprise.

"What could you possibly want to know about me? I'm just an average civilian. You're the half ghost hero of the town," you said. He shrugged. You sighed. "Fine. Do you want to play 20 questions?" You suggested. He paused before nodding.

"You go first," he said. You thought of a question as you finished up unwrapping his chest. He looked down at his wound and blinked. "Oh... that doesn't look good," he said. You shook your head. It was a bit smaller than it was but it looked like it had been reopened.

"From Dash," you thought to yourself. There was some green oozing out of it and slowly down his unwrapped chest. You went to grab the already green stained blanket from Tuesday night and laid it down on the bed. Then you carefully got him to lay down on top of it. Once he was laying down, you grabbed a wet cloth and started your process.

"You're a good nurse," he said and you laughed, then decided on your question

"I've had some practice," you replied. "I noticed you were shivering a lot that night, and it kind of feels like you radiate cold. What's that from?" You asked. He chuckled.

"Well," he started as you began wiping his chest. "Because I'm a ghost, but a very special ghost beings I'm only half, I have what we call an ice core. It means I can use a few certain cold powers, like freezing things and controlling a bit of weather," he answered. You nodded slowly as you finished wiping up the ectoplasm around and on the wound. "But I have to be careful because if I keep it balled in too long I literally turn into a popsicle." You laughed. "It's not funny," he whined. "It happened once. It was NOT fun." You threw the dirtied cloth onto your desk and grabbed the pad, pouring some antiseptic onto it.

"As interesting as that is, is there anyone else like you?" You asked. He smirked before clicking his tongue at you.

"Only one question at a time. It's my turn now," he said and you rolled your eyes, but smiled. He thought for a moment before looking at your hand gently cleaning the cut. "Where did you learn such good medical skills?" He asked. You sighed.

"My mom is a nurse. She found a better paying position here so that's why we moved. But she works shift work so sometimes I don't see her for a day or so," you said. He looked at you sadly.

"That must be hard," he said. You nodded, but heard him make a noise when the antiseptic touched a particularly bad looking spot on his wound.

"Sorry. But yeah, it can be hard but we're doing the best we can. I really like here and I have a couple really good friends. I'm not sure what I would do without them." You said looking at him straight on. You saw his eyes get wide and then he looked back towards the roof. You went back to cleaning his wound and thought of another question.

"I already asked you this once, but you were pretty out of it. And you don't have to answer if you don't want to. But what happened to you in that accident?" You asked. He sighed.

"I touched something I shouldn't have and it turned on. It electrocuted me, and I woke up like this. Able to fight the ghosts who plague this town, but still not sure why this happened to me." He finished. You stayed silent as you trashed the pad and grabbed some antiseptic cream. He looked at you. "My turn," he said. You smiled softly. He frowned a little then looked at your desk. "I don't want to pry or make you feel awkward, but who was that photo of?" You froze. The photo. "I'm sorry. You don't have to answer," he said quickly. Then you reminded yourself that this was just Danny, just in his ghost form.

"No it's okay," you said gently squeezing some cream onto another pad. Swiping it across his chest, you felt him shiver from the cold cream. "Umm. That photo-... that was a photo of me, my mom and-..." you stopped. "My dad," you said softly. He stared at you. Your eyes started to burn and you bit your lip. "He-... he passed away." Phantoms eyes widened.

"I am so sorry," he said. "I didn't know." You shook your head.

"It's fine. He-... he passed away a few years ago. My mom and I have been on our own for about 3 years," you said. "It's been hard but that's part of the reason we moved here. A better job for my mom, a new life for both of us," you said disposing of the pad. "Can you sit up for me please?" You asked him. He sat up, swinging his legs down, but never taking his eyes off you. You grabbed the roll of gauze and started re-wrapping him. You finished quickly and taped it off. "There you go," you said. He rubbed at it lightly before grabbing his suit and starting to put it on. You turned away to give him some privacy and cleaned the supplies off your desk.

You couldn't tear your thoughts away from your dad now. It was like someone had reopened an old wound. You felt a hand on your shoulder and turned. Phantoms green eyes pierced through the darkened room. He pulled you into a hug and you let a few tears slip down your cheeks.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset," he said quietly, running his hand through your hair. You took in a shaky breath, pushing him back a bit. He stayed close, so you were just inches away from each other. He lightly ran a thumb over your cheek, brushing away the tears. He leaned slightly forward and you snapped out of your trance.

Stepping back a bit, you gave an apologetic smile and he blushed. "Sorry. Anyhow. I guess I better be going," he said rubbing his neck. "Thank you again for everything. I might have to make you my personal doctor," he joked, but something told you this wasn't the last time you would have to care for Danny Phantom. You smiled and nodded.

"It's no problem. Just try not to make this injury thing a habit okay?" He laughed.

"I'll try," he said. Then he started to float up, his legs disappearing for a wispy tail. Your eyes widened. He chuckled. "Weird right?" You nodded.

"Yeah just a little." He gave you a short wave before heading towards the window.

"We'll have to finish this game of 20 questions some other time," he said. You smiled.

"There's going to be another time?" You asked. He shrugged.

"Possibly." And then he turned invisible and was gone through your window, leaving no trace of his visit but some dirtied antiseptic wipes, and the goosebumps on your arms.

"Well that was new," you thought to yourself before folding up the blanket on your bed and setting it on the floor. Walking to your desk, you opened the drawer with the photo and took it out, softly stroking it. You felt yourself start to cry again and you went to hang the photo up again.

"I miss you dad. So much." You thought to yourself as you stared at the photo. You just wished that thoughts would bring him back.
