Chapter 26- Wake Up Call

Okay DAMNNNNN. I didn't expect to get even two reads let alone over 200!! You guys are the best!!  I'm just shocked. I can't even-... oh my lord-... *wipes tear* thank you so much everyone!!

Your POV

It had been a week since your fight with Vlad. Other than the small twitch of Danny's hand, he hadn't moved again. You felt better, other than the bulky cast on your leg. Getting used to crutches was-... interesting. Your mom had let you spend most of your time at the hospital, so you just do homework or read. She was really worried but knew that you would pull though. Danny on the other hand, you weren't sure about. He had only moved his finger one time and you overheard the doctors saying something about "brain damage"caused by the fact he wasn't awake. You began to worry.

So you did all you could. You stayed with him, talked to him, and begged him to wake up. He obviously didn't respond but you kept trying anyway. One afternoon you decided to take a walk down to the cafeteria to get some lunch. So you grabbed your crutches and hobbled your way to the cafe. You saw a Tim Hortons there so you grabbed an iced coffee and a muffin. Sitting down at a table, you stared into space, a multitude of thoughts swirling around your head.

You thought again about how if you had been faster, Danny wouldn't be in this situation. But now that Vlad was gone, what was going to happen? Your biggest rival was dead and the ghosts had stopped coming through the portal. What would that mean for Danny Phantom and Spectre? Would they be accepted into society? Or just labeled as more ghosts and cast out? You huffed a sigh and attempted to grab all of your stuff from the table and make your way back to Danny's room. The crutches were just a bother now. With your enhanced healing and all, your leg should be healed by now. As you struggled, you heard a cough from behind you and turned to see a nurse with a wheelchair waiting for you. You smiled appreciatively and she giggled and asked where you were headed.

"You're a lifesaver," you said as you were on your way. She just laughed in return and opened the door to Danny's room, pushing you inside.

"I'll just leave this here for you in case you need it again," said the nurse as she waved goodbye and left. You looked down at the cast, then thought about it. You could get someone to X-ray it and see if it had healed. But you also could just turn ghost, phase through the cast and hide it. Weighing the options, you decided to phase the cast off and if it was hurting or you felt it needed it, you would phase the cast back on.

So you quietly called out your transformation for the first time since the fight, and phased through the cast. You lightly moved your leg around and walked on it. It was a bit sore, but not too bad. So thinking about it, you sighed and phased the cast back on, not wanting people to ask questions. Then you turned human again and rested your head on the edge of Danny's bed. You started to feel your eyes close and you fought to stay awake. Then you heard movement and a raspy voice.

"Y-...Y/n?" Your eyes shot open and you sat up, looking at the half open blue eyes looking at you. You covered your mouth.

"D-...Danny? You're awake?" Your voice cracked as you held back tears. He gave a tired smile and you felt tears run down your cheeks as you quickly leaned over him and gave him a tight hug. As tight as you could without hurting him of course, and felt him smile into your shoulder as he hugged you back. You didn't want to let him go but you did, slowly sitting back down in the chair beside his bed and keeping a tight hold on his hand.

"How-... how long was I out?" He said coughing. You grabbed the water beside his bed and handed it to him, then looked down.

"A week and a half," you whispered. "Danny-... they didn't think-... I thought you-..." you couldn't bring yourself to finish the sentence. He never let go of your hand, just ran his thumb over your knuckles.

"Hey," he said. "Y/n. What happened out there-... it wasn't your fault. I made my decision," he said gently. You didn't look up, but felt the tears stream harder down your face.

"It should've been me," you said. That made him lean over as far as he could and grab your face.

"No," he said firmly as you stared into his eyes. "I knew what you were going to do. I couldn't live with myself if you had gotten hurt. So I chose to save you, even if it meant me getting hurt." He brushed away some of your tears and you saw him wince at the position he was in. He moved slowly to lie back down in his bed and patted an open spot next to his right side. You crawled in beside him and he put an arm around you as you got into a comfortable position with your head on his chest.

"I didn't know if you were going to wake up. I thought you were going to leave me." He chuckled and you smiled in relief when you felt his heartbeat under your head. He was still here, alive. Or as alive as a half ghost can be.

"I could never leave you," he answered yawning. You looked up at him to see him drifting off again. You rubbed circles on his hand and he nestled farther down beside you. You giggled and he smiled as he started to fall asleep. But before he did, he leaned down towards you and you felt yourself blush at the closeness. He quickly closed the gap and you placed a hand on his cheek as he kissed you. He smiled into it as you both broke away and he looked at you. You ran a hand through his hair and saw his fighting to stay awake.

"It's okay Danny. I'm right here, you can go to sleep now," and he nodded and fell asleep as you internally squealed.

"I'll never leave you," he mumbled quietly and you smiled at his sleeping form, before you too fell asleep in his arms.

Sam's POV

I had to keep a hand over my mouth as Danny FINALLY kissed Y/n. He did it!! My ship is sailing!! I gotta go tell Tucker!!

Cute. Took a lot of thinking for this chapter and I'm sorry if it's boring. The story is coming to an end now so there will probably only be one or two more chapters after this.
