“Becks you look great, stop making such a fuss!” Oliver groaned as I attempted to flatten down my wild mess of hair. I knew that I didn’t look that bad but still I wanted to make an effort. I was headed out for a meal with the only girl friend that I had, Sarah. I had met her while working at my previous job as a waitress, a job I had managed to maintain for a short while because Wilf was out of work. Anyway, I really liked Sarah and it was good for me to have some female company to talk to rather than just Oliver, even though I adored him.

“Thanks but have you seen Sarah recently? She’s beautiful!” I whined in response, checking to see if my mascara was smudged for the hundredth time. It was true that Sarah was incredibly attractive so I wanted to try and emulate some of her beauty in order to nearly compare to her.

“Who cares what she looks like…? You look gorgeous” He insisted, walking over so that he was stood behind me in the mirror. I gazed at my reflection and couldn’t help but smile. I suppose I wasn’t that unattractive when I really put some effort in and Oliver always complemented me which made me even more confident.

“Thanks” I replied sheepishly, feeling my cheeks blush as I turned to him. He always knew what to say to make me feel better, a trait that I truly loved about my best friend.

“Are you sure you’re okay to look after Gabi again?” I questioned knowing that he was probably getting fed up of it although he would never admit it. I felt bad for constantly asking him to look after my daughter but it was literally the only way I could have a chance a social life, something I desperately needed.

“Yes, of course! Now go and have fun!” He grinned, giving me a knowing look that made my nose crinkle. I didn’t know what he expected from me, it wasn’t as if Sarah and I were going to a nightclub or anything. We were simply headed out for a meal together to catch up on each other’s lives, but evidently Oliver had other impressions of what we were doing.

I said goodbye to Gabi quickly before making my way out of the door, I knew she was quite tired already because I had put her favourite music on while I was getting ready so she had worn herself out by singing and dancing. I think Oliver was thankful for that.

Sarah was even more ravishing than I had initially thought and I mentally cursed her for her good looks. Nevertheless, I was delighted to see her because there was so much for us to catch up on. I hadn’t seen her properly for around two months and as she approached me I couldn’t help but feel ecstatic.

“Rebecca! Oh wow, it’s been too long” She chirped as she pulled me in for a friendly hug. I could smell the sweet, flowery scent of her perfume as she did and almost choked over the amount she must have put on because it was overwhelming my senses.

“I know right! Far too long” I replied, gently unlatching myself from her as her perfume was making my eyes sting.

We then made our way into the very fancy Italian restaurant that we both used to work in, in hope that the manager would recognise us and give us a small discount. Deep down I knew I couldn’t really afford to be eating here because I was still struggling to obtain money for the rent and my debt to Oliver was gradually growing and growing. However I thought that I would allow myself to splurge just a little. I felt that I deserved it and I shouldn’t feel ashamed of wanting to have some fun once in a while, should I?
