"Mary, there you are" Darry said, as soon as I entered the house. It was dark already, and I barely got back from the movies.
"Sorry for getting back so late, I was just at the movies with Johnny" I explained.
"It's okay, as long as you're alright" he replied. "Now head on to be kid, it's late."
"Okay" I replied. I made my way to my room, only to find that Ponyboy was already asleep. I sighed and took off my shoes. Then, I layed down next to him, and pulled the covers over my body. Even though I'm upset about what happened earlier, I can't keep myself from having feelings towards Pony. If only he knew.

I yawned and sat up in bed. Hmm, good nights rest. But I had a disturbing dream. Maybe it was because of the movie I saw yesterday with Johnny. I got out of bed, and walked into the kitchen. Everybody was eating already in a dead silence. I walked over into the couch and sat down.
"Mary, aren't you going to eat?"
"Nah, not hungry" I replied. The tv was off, but I didn't care. I just stared into it, like as if a show was playing. I felt someone sit down next to me. But, I didn't even bother turning to look.
"Mary, you alright?" From the sound of the voice, I knew it wasn't either of the Curtis brothers. Who was it? I turned and came face to face with Steve.
"Yea, why?"
"You look under the weather today" he replied. I looked down at my hands.
"Oh" I said.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I thought for a while, then nodded. Steve won't tell, right? "C'mon, let's step outside." I followed him out the door. I never did think Steve was the one to listen to people's feelings. Guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover. We sat on the steps, out of earshot. "So, what's really wrong?"
"It's what happened yesterday" I replied.
"What happened?" I took a deep breath and explained exactly what happened between Pony, the three girls, and me. "Wait, how does she look?"
"Uh, she had blond hair, was wearing really stank clothes, not so tall, skinny, and she had the most annoying voice ever" I replied
"Oohh, I think that was Sylvia" he said.
"Sylvia? Who's that?"
"Dally's ex girlfriend" he responded.
"Oh" I said.
"Yea, she's nothing but trouble" he replied.
"I'll say." It got quiet after that, before I broke it. "But, the way Pony didn't do anything, it kind of stung" I added. Steve looked at me straight in the eyes.
"Do you have a crush on Ponyboy?" I quickly looked away, as I felt my cheeks burning.
"Uh... n-no, it's just that... he's my brother and..." There was no way I could convince him that I don't have a crush on him. But, that would be lying to him. I don't want to lie about this. What should I do?
"Mary?" I felt a single tear roll down my cheek.
"Yes, I do have a crush on Ponyboy" I replied truthfully. He looked at me with a slight smile in his face. I felt like hugging him, but he'll probably think I'm weird or something, so I held back. He was about to say something, when someone behind us spoke up.
"Mary?" We both turned around, only to find Pony standing in the door way. I quickly stood up.
"How long have you been standing there?"
"Throughout the whole conversation" he replied. I suddenly felt embarrassed, then angry. He was ease-dropping!? "You like me?" I froze for a moment.
"You were listening to our conversation? Why?"
"I wanted to check on you" he replied, stepping forward.
"But it was personal, Pony. How could you?"
"I'm sorry, about everything. About what happened yesterday, today" he said. I stepped back. No, he's not. If he was, he would of done something, like stand up for me. I shook my head.
"Then why didn't you do something about it? I was humiliated, Pony" I replied. He looked deep into my eyes.
"I'm sorry, Marry" he apologized. I tried my best from keeping my tears from rolling down my face.
"A simple sorry won't change anything, Pony. I hope you realize that" I said.
"I do now. I feel bad about this, Mary" he responded, looking at the floor. I started regretting ever getting mad at him. But I had the right to, right?
"I'll be inside" Steve said, before walking into the house, leaving me and Pony out here.
"Is there any way you can forgive me?" He looked at me, with his sweet eyes. I just couldn't help it anymore. I want him and I to go back to the way we used to be. To hang out like we used to. All I had to do, is forgive him, but does he deserve it?
