-Grayson pov-
"I don't want to be fake."
Her fingers are intertwined with mine, our gazes locked.
"Then what do you want to be?"
"Real, Grayson, I want to be real."
*later that day*
"We need to go to Devin's party tonight," Anna states as she takes a seat across from me.
"Why?" I take a bite of my sandwich.
"Because I just learned that Jacob and Natalie will be there." She takes her lunch bag out of her bookbag.
I swallow. "So?"
"Are you that dense?" She asks sarcastically.
I hold my hands up. "Okay, okay. You want to make him jealous."
"Damn right!" She takes a furious bite of her carrot stick.
I chuckle. "Okay, babe, whatever you want. Just wear something nice."
Her eyes twinkle. "I will, just for you babe."
*a few hours later*

I run my hands down the silky fabric, feeling confident in the short white dress with an open back. I had curled my hair and did minimal makeup but a bold red lip. I walk around my room, getting a feel for the white heels I had donned.
Mae forced me to buy them a year ago, I hadn't had the chance to wear them since Jacob didn't like me wearing heels.
I was taller than him in heels.
But Grayson will always be much taller than me, heels or not.
I see my phone light up with a text, Grayson said that he's here.
I grab my small purse and rush downstairs. "Bye Mom!"
"Bye, sweetie! Be home by midnight!"
"I will!" I call before closing the front door, walking to his car.
He's leaning against the car, wearing a button-up with the top buttons undone and black jeans. He eyes me up and down. "You clean up nice girlfriend."
I roll my eyes. "Thank you, boyfriend."
He opens the car door for me. "Can I escort you to a wonderful high school party filled with underage drinking, making out, and beer pong, so that we can make our exes jealous?"
I slide into the seat, pretending to be excited. "Ooo yes, you may!"
He laughs as he shuts the door, swiftly walking over to the driver's side and getting into the car. He shifts the car into drive as the radio softly plays. I subtly watch him drive from the corner of my eye.
The setting sun casts a golden glow on his face, his eyes turning from dark hazel to light amber. His jaw clenches as he chews gum, the mint scent filling the car.
"You're so beautiful."
The words slip from between my lips before I can stop them.
His head turns, his eyebrows furrowed. "What did you say?"
I blush, not meeting his eyes. "You are beautiful Grayson."
The biggest smile breaks out on his face, his dimples popping. "Thank you." He says shyly, turning back to the road.
