Chapter 8

October

-Annalise pov-

"I'm so happy for you Anna!" Mae wraps her arms around me.

I hug her back. "Thank you."

She pulls away. "Now, let's go find your homecoming dress! I can't believe you waited until two weeks before homecoming to buy your dress!"

I shrug. "I was busy..."

"And what school has homecoming in November.."

I laugh. "Mine I guess."

We start walking toward a dress boutique.

"Well, we are to find you a spankin' hot dress. Something to make you look sexy as hell."

"Sounds great Mae."

-Grayson pov-

I hit the punching bag a few more times, putting all my effort into the last set. My phone starts ringing so I hold the bag from swinging back at me and unwrap my boxing gloves with my teeth. Once I get one of the gloves off I answer the phone without looking at the caller id.

"Hello?" I try to steady my breathing.

"Oh am I interrupting your workout?" A voice that I can only describe as glittery fills my ear.

"Hi Natalie, and no you're not I just finished."

"Wonderful, we have a lot of talk about!"

"How did you get my number?"

"Oh, Grayson! You should know by now that I have my ways." She giggles. "Anyway, I just learned that homecoming is in two weeks! I can't believe no one told me sooner, two weeks is clearly not enough time to plan everything! But I must work with what I have, so my first step is getting a date, which is obviously you. So now we need to make sure we color coordinate, plan dinner, the limo, and the after-party. Can you design invites? Nevermind, I'll do that...Then I need you to-."

"Wait, wait, wait, hold up. When did I ask you to be my date to homecoming?" I ask.

Natalie giggles again. "You didn't silly, I just thought we were going together!"

I rub the back of my neck. "Oh, okay..."

"So, I was thinking about the color of my dress to be a light blue, but not baby blue.." She continues to ramble on and I find myself smiling. Maybe Natalie can be a really good thing in my life.

-Annalise pov-

Jacob wraps his arm around my shoulders. "Want to go to a party with me on Friday?"

"Sure. Where's it at?"

He shrugs. "I don't know, Mark knows the guy, I think his name is Jordan, he's a senior."

"Oh okay, that sounds fun."

"Great babe." He kisses my cheek. "I'll pick you up."

"Okay. I have to go to play practice, I'll see you later!" I slip out from under his arm.

"Bye, Anna."

I wave as I walk down the hallway, opening the door to the auditorium. As soon as I walk in I'm greeted with the stares from Makayla and her posie. I ignore them and make my way to the front, taking a seat next to Ethan.

"The bitch still giving you trouble?" He takes a bite out of a sandwich.

"Just stares, I can deal with that."
