-Grayson pov-
She kisses me roughly, her hands gripping my hair. I place soft kisses down her neck and she moans lightly.
I lift my head to meet her lips once again, but she pulls away.
"Grayson."
"Yes?"
"Grayson."
"Yes, Anna?"
"Grayson!" She suddenly slaps me across the cheek. "Wake up!"
I sit up in bed, breathing heavily. Ethan stands a few feet away.
"What were you dreaming about?"
"Nothing."
He tilts his head. "Grayson, we just talked about this."
"I know, I know."
"Does it have something to do with what you need to tell me?"
"Yes, but-."
"Boys! Time for dinner!" My mom calls.
"Coming mom!" I stand up and change my shirt, well aware of Ethan glaring at me. I turn. "I'll tell you later. Now's not a good time."
Before he can answer I race downstairs, taking a seat at the table.
My dad laughs. "Someone's hungry."
"Yeah, practice wore me out today."
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Ethan slip into the room and take the seat next to me.
He doesn't say one word to me for the rest of the night.
-Annalise pov-
"He's just looking out for me."
Mae sighs. "Okay, I trust you."
"Thank you."
"Of course bestie-." She suddenly starts coughing, and the screen turns black.
"Hey! Are you okay?"
I hear coughing for a few more seconds then Mae's face reappears. "Yeah, sorry there was something in my throat."
I can tell she is lying, but I rather not confront her over facetime. Mae and I have been best friends since grade school. We did everything together, and have helped each other get through the toughest times of our lives. Before high school, her parents put her in private school. For a year it was hard to stay in touch, but once we began to drive we reconnected and now are closer than ever. We're pretty much the stereotypical blond-brunette duo.
"Mall tomorrow night?"
"Ooo, yes. I need new jeans."
I laugh. "Cool, I'll pick you up at 7?"
"Perfect."
"I love you, see you tomorrow!"
"Bye! Love you too A." She waves.
I click the hang-up button and plug my phone into the charger. I turn my lap off and snuggle under my covers. Just as I'm falling asleep I hear my phone ping.

-Grayson pov-
Ethan doesn't talk to me at breakfast, during the car ride to school, or while we get our books from our lockers. We both stand in awkward silence, waiting for the bell to ring.
