Chapter Twenty Four
Move To Oakland

"What are you going to do about the furniture?" My mom asked me. Her and KaTrece was helping me pack my clothes into suitcases. "Leave it all here. Gran left me waaay to much money." I smiled. Gran left had left it in her will to get the money from her savings account, to follow my dreams. She said she had been saving it up since I was five. That was the first time I told her I wanted to become a model. She had saved up $4.2 million dollars, which was too much. But, I had plans.
"Lauren, do you have to leave?" Sarah whined. "Yeah. I mean, we're going to miss you." KaTrece joined in with her. They were really making me sad. "I'm going to miss you guys too, but I have to do this. Y'all can visit me sometimes, and I'll visit. Sarah, I promise I'll be here a week before the birth of Londyn." I pulled up my jeans. I put on a pink shirt that showed my stomach and hung off my shoulder. I put on my pink and black Jordans.
Anthony walked into my bedroom. "Aye sis, that nigga Quin outside." Quin? What the hell is he doing here? "Uh, okay. I'll be out in a minute." He nodded his head and walked out. "What is he doing here?" Sarah rolled her eyes. "I have no idea." I said, combing through my hair. "Don't do anything crazy." KaTrece looked at me. "I'm not. I'm so over that."
I went outside. Quin was leaning against his car, doing something on his phone. He looked up at me and smiled. "You look good ma." Quin looked good too, but I didn't tell him that. "Thanks. So, what bought you here?" He cleared his throat. "I heard you was moving to Cali. I wanted to see you before you left. And I'm also sorry about ya Grannie." I really wasn't even mad at Quin anymore, he just hurt me. Real bad. "Thanks. But yeah, we're getting ready to leave in a minute. I really think it's what's best for me." I crossed my arms over my chest and looked down at the concrete. "Well, can I at least have a hug?" I gave Quin a quick hug but he pulled me back. He wrapped his arms around me tight. "I'm gonna miss you. I hope you be happy up there. I still love you."
Love? Yeah right! I pulled away from the hug. "See you later Q." I walked back into the house. I looked out the window, watching him leave. I really missed being with Quin, but my feelings for him had vanished. I still cared for him, but I didn't love him.
I went back into my bedroom. "KaTrece, can you help me with me my suitcases?" She got up from the bed. We went back and forth to my car with loads of suitcases. My trunk and backseat was filled with my suitcases and Tiara's. "That looks like everything." I looked around in my closet. Sarah and KaTrece had a saddened look upon their faces. I pulled them into a group hug. "I'm really gonna miss you guys. But I'll be back in four months."
We went outside. Anthony, my mom, my dad, and Tiara were standing around chatting. "You're finally ready?" My dad laughed. "Whatever dad." I laughed at his facial expression. "Tiara can you go get my keys and purse from the table?" She went into the house. I hugged Anthony. "Imma miss you brother." He sighed, hugging me tighter. "It ain't gonna be the same without you." We stood there for a minute, just hugging. I felt so sad.
Tiara came back with my purse and keys. "Thank you." I grabbed them from her hand. Tiara hugged Anthony, KaTrece, and Sarah. My dad and mom had already gotten in their car. I blew kisses to them before getting into my car, and they blew some back. It made me smile. "Are you ready?" I looked at Tiara as I started up my car. "Yes I am. I think Cali is going to be great. But this is going to be a long ride." Tiara put on her seatbelt and let her seat back. I pulled off behind my dad. Anthony and my girls were leaving out too.
I really wanted to see Rashad before I left, but Anthony told me he had went out of town. I was really ready for Cali! I had already looked at some condos. Whatever Cali would bring, I was ready for it. New city, new start, new life. Cali, I'm on my way!
