             Chapter Twenty Two
                          Cancer

   Lauren

It'd been a month since the breakup with me and Quin. My heart still ached, but I was doing just fine. I missed him so much, but I didn't want him anymore. I hadn't heard from him since the day he left and I didn't want to.

I threw on my gray Nike shirt, denim jeans, and black Nike Air Max. I pulled my hair up into a bun and put dark shades over my eyes. I was starting to like the Nike gear my dad bought me. I looked hella good. I grabbed my purse, phone, keys, and I left. The day had finally came. We were going to find out the gender of Sarah's baby. I picked KaTrece up first, and then Sarah.

"So, what are you hoping for Sarah?" KaTrece asked her. "It doesn't matter to me. Anthony wants a girl." She said, rubbing her little tummy. It was too cute! "And how are you doing, Lauren?" She asked me. "I'm doing fine." I told her, honestly. Ain't nothing I can't handle. I'm good! "Man, this my song!" KaTrece reached, turning up the radio. "Let's go baby, to the hole in the wall." Sarah and I laughed at her. She is too country.

Days without Lauren had been miserable and long. I missed her smile, her singing Webbie in the shower, her long, sexy caramel legs. Man, I missed her. Period. I messed up real bad when I lost her. I tried calling her a thousand times, but she wouldn't answer. Then I got the idea that we really were done.

"Man, what you thinkin' about?" Myles asked me. "Nothing." I lied, switching the channel to BET. "You thinkin' bout Lauren, I already know. I don't know what to say man, you lost a good one." I was so tired of hearing that, but it was true. I lost the best thing that ever happened to me. She was my motivation, my everything. Man, fuck! I just hoped she would find somebody better than me.

We were sitting in the room, watching the doctor rub something around Sarah's stomach. "Look," he pointed to the screen, "it's a girl." KaTrece and I smiled at Sarah, she smiled back. I texted my mom, telling her it was a girl. "Congratulations Ms Baker." He printed out the ultrasound and gave it to Sarah. "Try not to eat a lot of spicy food, it's not good for your health. You'll have another appointment two weeks from today, which is March seventeenth. Remember, no tobacco or alcohol." He wiped the jelly from her stomach and pulled her shirt back down. "You won't have to worry about that." Sarah leaned up.

Once the doctor was done going over rules and what not to eat, we left. Sarah called Anthony and a few of her family members, telling them the news. Anthony was really, really happy. "We can go shopping like right now." I looked at Sarah. "Yeah, we can do that." She agreed. "Drop me off at home. Myles is coming over." KaTrece said in a joyful tone. "I'm so sick of y'all." I rolled my eyes playfully. She laughed. "We love you too." I actually liked their relationship, they were cute. I dropped KaTrece off and headed to pick Tiara up from school.

I watched her walk out the double doors with a few other girls. She hugged them before getting into the car. "So, how was your day?" I asked Tiara before pulling off. "It was good." She said, laughing a little. "What are you having Sarah?" Sarah looked back st her. "A girl." Her phone started to ring. "Hey." She answered. "Oh, what's up boo. Yeah, it's a girl. Londyn Marie of course. Of course you can be the God daddy. Okay, call me then. Bye." She hung up. "That was Rashad." Rashad? I hadn't heard from him either. I hoped he was doing okay.

It seemed like forever to get to BabiesRUs. After an hour drive, we had finally made it. "It's about time." Sarah sighed, getting out of the car. We went inside the store. There weren't many people, thank God. We went to the clothing section.
