Isabella's POV
I was happy, I did not have to go to the academy for one more month. One more month that I could spend with the people I love.
I was standing in the balcony of my bedroom, looking out towards the garden below when I heard him speak.
"You shouldn't be out here, it's pretty chilly tonight."
"Yeah maybe, but this feels good. Looking at the moon, just giving yourself some time to think about things." I gave him a small smile.
"You know, I was thinking that we should start over with our introductions. I mean the first time I met you, it wasn't exactly the best impression I might have given you with a girlfriend by my side," he chuckled.
"I want to get to know you, the real you. I want to know what you like and what you don't, what makes you happy and what ticks you off. So what do you say, can we start all over again, as friends?" He asked, looking at me with hope in his eyes.
I couldn't say no, I wanted to get to know the real him too. If that is as friends then that's okay too, I want to know what my mate is like when he's not busy being a douche.
"Yes, I would like that." I said with a smile. That's when I noticed how close we were to each other, our lips barely centimeters away. Slowly, he leaned in and kissed me.
It was overwhelming, sparks went through every part of my body, shaking me to my core. The kiss was gentle and slow, my brain had stopped functioning and my heart was in overdrive.
We were interrupted by someone, whose voice was the last thing I wanted to hear at this moment.
"I should probably go, Adriana might be looking all over the place for me," he said, looking anywhere but at me.
And there it was, that searing stab to the heart. After everything was said and done, he was still going to go back to her. She was the one to warm his bed every night.
I was so stupid to let him kiss me!!
He left without saying another word, and I kept staring at the moon, hoping the moon goddess would give me enough strength to endure another month of this.
Suddenly having one more month to stay here did not seem as appealing as it did before. Atleast at the academy I could've kept myself busy with training, but here I could not just up and leave anytime I wanted to.
I looked down towards the gardens again and saw them strolling together, smiling and laughing at something the other said.
He looked up at me for a second and looked back down towards her. They looked happy and that hurt. My mate was happy with someone else.
My wolf was whimpering inside me, there were vines growing all over the railings of the balcony. I couldn't stand here and watch this anymore.
A single tear escaped my eye as I turned away. He wanted to get to know me as friends, so that was exactly what I would be to him. Nothing more.
I couldn't let myself be a play piece in all of this.
I needed a release, and so did Crystal. I was tired of everything that was going on in my life. The past few days have turned my world upside down, and now there is no hope left that my life would ever be the same.
I went back to my favorite spot near the lake, laying down in wolf form. Crystal was a silver wolf, with blue streaks running down her form in different patterns. She was much larger than most Alpha wolves.
I looked into the river to see the reflection of my wolf. But what I saw had me frowning deeply, and rechecking if what I was seeing was correct.
Crystal's once silver fur now had streaks of black in a weird, but beautiful pattern. Even though major parts of her fur were still silvery, she had these black shades mixed with it now.
I had to go back!
I had to go back to Theodora and somehow convince her to leave here as soon as we possibly could.
I couldn't just stand here and let people walk all over me, but I couldn't do anything about it either. So, it was better that I left. For me, for my family, my pack, and him.
I was changing in ways I couldn't understand, and maybe Theodora could help. I had to at least try.
I ran back in my wolf form towards my house. Just as I reached close to the woods behind my house, I picked up some shorts and a tank top from the clothes that we kept there for when we needed to shift.
All of a sudden, a cold breeze swept past me, and a sweet little voice called out, "Miss Bella?"
*******************************
So..... they kissed!!
But what happened after broke Bella's heart. Will they get their happily ever after, even after everything that has happened?
Let me know what you think.
Lots of love,
Ash
