Theodora's POV

Her hand closed around his throat, holding him above the ground in a tight grip. She growled loudly, her eyes more black now than silver.

I knew she didn't want to hurt Alessio in any way, but this side of her wouldn't let her take control. It was too strong for her to handle.

She wouldn't feel remorse right now for whatever she did, but later when she comes back in control, she might have done some irrepairable damage.

I didn't think we'd have to deal with this until we reached the academy safe and sound. This was a part of her that was mentioned in the prophecy. One that would destroy everything if we did not make her strong enough to fight against it. The chances were bleak but we had to try.

Her mother saying all that to her was the breaking point. Everyone stood to the side with fear in their eyes. Everyone knew this was not her.

She was trying to get back in control, but she couldn't. You could see the fight in her eyes, flickering back and forth between black and silver.

She flung him across the hallway. Her head was down, so we couldn't catch the expressions on her face. When she looked back up, her eyes were a black abyss swirling with some part of silver in them. In a blink, she was in front of her mother.

Liana looked at her daughter, trying to be strong, but the fear in her eyes was evident.

Bella spoke but it came out in a deeper voice, one that was not hers, "Now, now, I am not your daughter, am I mother? So that does not make these people surrounding us anymore related to me than you are. That means if I hurt them because of my own reasons, it would not make me a bad person, would it? Or better yet, let's start with you." she grinned evilly.

I raised my hands facing them palms up straight towards her, chanting the words that I knew would stop her.

"Isa Kenaz Hagalaz Kenaz Isa"

It would hurt her since it would mirror whatever she was doing to them, sending a negative impact to her and protecting them. I did not want to hurt her, but it was the only thing I could do to stop her.

I had been trying to use spells that we used in common to stop her since the darkness just took over her, but it seems it is more powerful than we anticipated. I could not stop her with any of those.

Being the oldest and most powerful witch of them all, I had learnt some part of the ancient runes that were much more powerful than the spells we cast since ages, used by the witches and wizards of old times.

It has long since not been used, but I had to stop her or she was going to kill them all and this was the only way.

When she turns back to her usual self, seeing her loved ones dead by her hands might actually be the one thing to push her over the edge and let the darkness take over her completely.

What I did not expect was for this to happen...

She stretched her hand in my direction, without looking back and said,

"Thurisaz Teiwaz Thurisaz"

I doubled over and fell to the ground, clutching my stomach in desperation to get air into my lungs. My nose bled and my ears were ringing.

I could see the pack members and her family frozen in place, along with the witches in my coven.

She was dangerous. She had just used a spell from the ancient runes against my attack and it came back to me with doubled intensity than the one I had sent to make her stop.

If we are not able to help her control and tame the darkness, and take it out altogether after, she will bring the world great destruction.

"Run! Don't look back and go into the pack house. I will cast a protection spell around it so she can't get inside. Go!"

It was a good thing that I had only cast a spell to stop her or I would be dead with the doubled intensity that she cast back at me.

Cold black eyes with swirling silver looked back at me, a smirk growing on her lips. The pack members scrambled to get out of here, but her family hesitated.

"Go, please! This is not her and the darkness that has taken over her will not hesitate to hurt you even by a second. Listen to me, or you will all be dead. After your deaths since she would have nothing to hold on to, she cannot be saved."

I started wheezing, my breath coming out in short pants. She was an elemental, and knowing this I should have been better prepared. She constricted the air in my lungs the more she looked at me.

All the witches behind her started chanting in unison, casting a spell to keep her bound to her place and to put a barrier on her powers.

"iunctis subsisto ope ac tenebras et erit obice et inter mundum"

"iunctis subsisto ope ac tenebras et erit obice et inter mundum"

"iunctis subsisto ope ac tenebras et erit obice et inter mundum"

She stilled, looking around confused. She had let her guard down after she had attacked me, the only reason they could get through to her and use the spell.

When her eyes flashed between silver and black, I knew this was the only moment I would get from her side before the darkness pulled through once again and we could all be dead then.

I am so sorry Bella....

"genus spirituum auxilio recondunt, sunt tenebrae et lux, quod auxilium pugna per haze de tenebris"

Her eyes flashed once again, turned a bright silver and she fell to the ground, unconscious.

We had managed to conceal the darkness within her for now, but it was more important than ever to get her to the academy now.

She was taken back to her room, where I cast a spell to keep her in and keep the barrier between her and the darkness up. We had to talk to her family before we took the next step.

All I hope is that her family other than her mother reacts well to this news along with her mate, or else we are going to have a problem. A big one at that.
