If you were told, that your world could be healed, and your people set free, but there were a sacrifice to be given, would you do it?

Would you sacrifice only 7 lives, to save hundreds?

That was the question spooks and her brothers were faced with. Save 7, and live with life underground for the rest of your life, or sacrifice 7 and live freely on the surface.

This dilemma was surely to stun them.

Doctor Gaster, after finishing up his explanation, sent them on their way, promising to visit more on the weekends if he could. Whilst it still meant the children and their older sister weren't able to see their father as much as they wanted, atleast they'd made some progress. Minus the shocking discoveries.

The three of them exited the lab, papyrus begrudgingly following behind. The smaller skeleton kicked up a bit of a fuss at being told it was home time. They'd spent most of the day at the labs, already keeping up more of Gasters time than they'd expected.

The small dog was with them the whole time, though only seemed bothered at whether it was dinner time or not.

Sans however seemed angry. Not at leaving, but at Doctor Gaster. Sans didn't believe it was fair to sacrifice anyone for the 'greater good'. How could it be called good when many had to perish to get there? He didn't understand. The humans may have betrayed them before and left them abandoned underground, but that was years before Sans was even created, surely by now they'd have changed right? Maybe they just forgot about monsters and have moved on with their lives?

Of course, to that, sans didn't know the answer, and judging by what it'd cost, he weren't sure he wanted to find out.

Spooks herself was rather a bit shocked. She knew Gaster had been working on something big for a while, he kept bringing up words like 'determination' and 'soul matter' as well as a rather puzzling one that she couldn't quite wrap her head around; 'resets'.

She'd heard the word a few times during her creation. As a soul, you depend on the world around you, and as a souling, speach and projections were what helped you grow. Spooks could hear almost everything doctor gaster muttered whilst he was working on her.

She could also remember how disappointed he was after learning his perfect weapon was a failure, and he was now stuck with a baby bones. And a rather deformed one at that. You see, Spooks was originally designed as a Gaster Blaster, talk about narcissism. Her image wasn't supposed to be the way it is now. She was designed to be a gun configuration. Summoned only when necessary. Though now she understands why such weapon wouldve been needed. Underground was peaceful after all. The only reason she were needed would've been the humans.

During the experiment, something in her soul changed, she gained will, the need to live. Overhearing Gaster's plans for her original form, she realised she didn't want that. Maybe determination had something to do with it, but she was able to change her own fate, mess with her coding, she began to feel.

After manipulating her own soul, she was born as a skeleton from a tube. Whilst it were blurry, she remembered the look on Gasters face when he realised what had manifested weren't what he originally planned.

It was kinda funny to her.

At the same time, she realised she was unique, one of a kind, in many other time lines and realities she didn't exist. She wondered how her brothers lived in those realities. Were they happy?

The three of them finally got home, papyrus instantly kicking off his slightly wet wellingtons and unleashing the dog before running up to their bedroom and closing the door rather forcefully. Sans looked over to spooks, who looked rather spooked as it was, and shrugged whilst raising an eyebrow.
