Papillon - HS

Chapter 2

Niall closed the door behind him and I made my way to the desk. Niall sat on the bed, jumping up an down like a little kid. I opened my bag and took out a notebook and decided to use the work phone to voice record our conversation. Once I had everything ready, I turned to face him.

"Ask away" he said with the brightest smile on his face.

 I smiled right back at him and felt my stomach burst with excitement. I started recording, took my pen and was ready to begin. "How do you feel about performing again after taking time off?"

"Oh, amazing. I'm so pumped" he said, "it's the thing I like to do the most. Well, that and songwriting."

"Tell me more about that" I said.

"Well, when we took the break, I visited my family for the first few months," he said. "It was nice to come back home, knowing I actually had time and didn't need to go back so soon. I travelled a bit, it was nice, but eventually, I got bored."

I wrote down specific details about he was saying and how we was saying it. I took everything in, his posture, words and voice tone. Wrote down anything that would help me develop a better story, to make the readers feel like they're here, listening to Niall tell his story.

"So, I texted the guys, told them what I was feeling and was surprised to hear everyone felt the same way. All of us were secretly wishing we could cancel the break and go back to the band but knew it was for the best. Without really knowing, we all began writing songs and decided we would be performing them at the tour."

My eyes widened at that statement, my inner fan desperately needing to come out. "You're releasing new music?!" I ask excitedly. 

Niall laughed at my reaction and I couldn't help but laugh as well. I was surprised when I didn't feel any heat spread across my cheeks, I'm getting better at hiding my embarrassment.

"Yes but no" he responded.

I looked at him with a confused look on my face. 

"What do you mean?"

"See, we all wrote songs and produced them just for the sake of knowing how the actual melodies and instruments would sound like but, as of right now, we won't be releasing them as an actual album," he explained. I simply nodded, trying to make sense of it in my head. "Plus," he continued, "we wrote them by ourselves so these are kind of like our solo songs? It's kind of confusing and I don't know how to explain myself. You should ask Liam to explain it better" he finished, scratching the back of his head.

"Well, thank you so much for your answers Niall, tell Liam to come in now, I need to know what this new music is all about" I said with a smile.

"Sure thing" he said with a wink and stood to get his friend.

I ended the recording and finished up writing some things down until Liam came in the room.

"Wanted to see me?" Liam asked while opening the door and sitting down at the bed.

"Yes, thank you for coming," I say with a smile, clicking the phone to start recording. "What's this I hear about new music?" I say wiggling my brows.

Liam laughed and made himself comfortable in his seat. "Never trust Niall to explain things to you, he isn't great at it" he said chuckling lightly. "First, tell me what you understood and I'll continue from there."

"Well, he said every one of you wrote and recorded songs while being on the break and plan on singing them but  don't plan releasing them as singles or in an album? Something like that."
