"I'll go forward!" Eren declared, obviously worried about what the consequences would be. Before I had the chance to react, a bloodcurdling scream rang throughout the trees above us. Eren and I jerked our heads up to see the remaining soldier get smashed into a tree by the titan.

"Let me go!" he shouted in agony before the titan stole away his life. Eren gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut, looking back down at his horse.

I held out my hand and touched his shoulder, catching his attention instantly. His emerald eyes met mine and I stared at him, trying to hide the fury and hatred for the titans I felt. But this was Eren, so that was pointless, anyway. "You know that I have to do this," I told him. I let go of his shoulder and adjusted myself on my horse so that I could stand on it when the time came.

"Do what?" Eren breathed, terrified. He knew what I meant. I just looked at him as I checked my blades and stood up on my horse.

"Y/N!" Petra screeched, "Sit down!" I ignored her and nodded at Eren, readying myself to go after the titan, who was now accelerating. Just as I raised my hand to fire a hook into a nearby tree, my eye caught a glint of silver metal. I froze, and everything felt as though it were in slow motion.

I stared at the metal, which turned out to be a sword. It was Erwin. He was hanging against a tree and—

"FIRE!!" he shouted. A huge bang erupted behind me as Erwin disappeared from my view. I was still standing on my horse as I turned to see countless spear-tipped lines shooting into the titan behind us, trapping it in its place. Its hands flew to its nape, protecting its life. When I looked closer, I realized how much the titan looked like a giant female human without skin. Gross.

"Look, Y/N!" Petra shouted, "See that?"

"We caught that titan!" Gunther told Eren, proving he made the right choice.

"This is the power of the Survey Corps!" Oluo declared as I sat back down on my horse, horrified, "Don't underestimate us, fools!"

A smile of relief crept across my face as I realized we were safe. My mouth was open slightly, still in shock. The titan behind us was clearly caught and didn't stand much chance of escaping. I noticed that Petra and Eren were smiling too, making me feel more at ease, though not completely safe.

"Yes, sir!" Eren replied. I looked over at him to see that he was really smiling and I couldn't help but grin myself. Captain Levi jumped off his horse and joined Commander Erwin on a tree closer to the titan, signaling for us to continue moving forward.

"An abnormal...?" Eren whispered, "Or is it like the Colossal Titan?" He looked back at the female-looking titan behind us. I felt my blood run cold.

"Eren," I said, beginning to panic. Eren could tell by the tone of my voice that something was wrong.

"What's wrong, Y/N?" he looked at me with concern, beginning to look scared himself.

"You don't think they--it..." I shook my head, not wanting to worry him just yet, "Never mind."

"Did Commander Erwin..."

"Oi!" Oluo shouted, "Snap out of it!"

"Guys, you can think later!" Petra called, "We've gotta get farther into the forest and stand by!"

"Right!" Eren and I replied simultaneously. I glanced at him once more and he nodded reassuringly, though it didn't do much to ease my nerves.

I tied my horse to a darker-looking tree and leaned my back against it, taking my hair out of its ponytail before putting it back in so it was cleaner. Eren leaned against the tree next to me, slightly closer than what would've been considered normal, had things like this not happened in the past. "You think this was Erwin's plan all along?" he asked as my hands fell to my sides. I sighed and looked over him, though I was slightly startled to see how close his emerald eyes were to my own.
