I was thrown off course as the titan swung its massive arm across the wall, tearing away all of the cannons with ease. I saw Eren jump off of the wall, barely escaping the destruction and I tried to use my ODM gear again. I was free-falling through the air when I realized that only one side of my ODM gear was working.

Pulling the trigger, I did what I could to get close to the Colossal Titan, but it was no use. I swung back to the wall as I saw Eren sprinting up the Titan's outstretched arm, realizing the Colossal Titan had targeted the gate and fixed cannons. He clearly was much smarter than the other titans. Eren soared to the titan's nape, escaping my view as I tried my best to fix my ODM gear. I frustratedly shook and pulled at the equipment, and finally heard a click setting the metal back in place.

When I looked back up at the steam where the titan was supposed to be, I saw Eren. He was in the air, blades outstretched as though cutting the air. The titan was gone. Eren flew through the air and landed on the side of the wall right behind me.

"Did... Did you defeat it?" I called, surprised.

"No! It just vanished!" He reached his arm into the air and landed atop the wall. I noticed that Connie and Thomas were both on the wall, too. "Sorry. I couldn't kill it."

"Why are you apologizing?" Thomas asked, shaking, "Y/N and you were the only ones who did anything... the rest of us didn't even move--"

"Hey, we don't have time for chatting!" Connie shouted before lowering his tone, "The wall's breached. If we don't do anything, the titans will get in!"

"Just like before," I thought as a squad leader landed on the wall in front of us.

"What're you doing?" he said angrily, "The contingency plan for the Colossal Titan has already begun! You need to get to headquarters, now!"

"Yes, sir!" the four of us replied as titans neared the open gate. I looked down the wall to see a net stretched across the gaping hole, knowing that would hardly help. Cannons blasted holes in the titans as other soldiers flew towards them with their hardly-used ODM gear and untouched blades.

Connie, Thomas, Eren, and I made our way towards headquarters, where other cadets and soldiers were running around frantically, supplying gas and blades. I noticed Sasha kneeling and shaking as she tightened the belt around her waist.

"Are you okay, Sasha?" I scrambled over to her, kneeling next to her. She nodded anxiously and took a few deep breaths, calming down. I touched her shoulder and hurried over to the spare gas when she had stopped shaking.

"We don't have any means of sealing that hole," Armin told Eren to my right as I quickly transferred the remaining gas of the spare into my own tanks, "We'll have to abandon the whole town at this rate! It's only a matter of time before they breach Wall Rose! And they could wipe out humanity at any time if they wanted to--"

"Armin," Eren grabbed his arm, cutting him off, "Calm down. Things are different now," he told him as I hooked the gas tank back in place on the wall, "Humanity won't be defeated by the titans anymore!" I sensed that Armin had finally calmed down and swiveled my head towards Mikasa, who stood behind them both.

"Mikasa!" I called and she looked up from Eren and Armin immediately, "Can you check my gear quickly?" she nodded and checked that nothing was broken or ripped, and I did the same for her. I heard the banging sound of titans walking around above us and prayed no one I knew was still out there.

Doing as we were told, the 104th and other soldiers lined up in a plaza and listened as a man with dark red hair and a Garrison Regiment badge yelled out our instructions-- to follow our training, split into groups, and protect Trost. "Under the Garrison's orders, you will resupply combatants, relay orders, and kill titans!" he shouted. He explained that Garrison's soldiers would form the vanguard, the cadets would form the middle guard, and the Garrison's elite forces would form the rearguard. I gasped when he declared that the advance team had been wiped out entirely, and I heard a few others do the same. I wondered for a moment if we even had a chance at defeating the titans this time, but it was quickly wiped away by my fury and hatred for the monsters, especially when the general said that the outer gate had been compromised and titans had already entered the city. "The Armored Titan may appear at any time to destroy the inner gate!" the already huge tension grew, "But we have one objective in this fight:" he continued, sweat dripping from his forehead, "to defend Wall Rose with our lives until the evacuation is complete!" he reminded us that desertion of the military was punishable by death, daring those who were second-guessing themselves to make a run for it. "Mark this well, and fight to your last dying breath!" All of the soldiers saluted, shouting, "Yes, sir!" before sprinting out of the plaza. I ran into Jean on the way out, who was bent over next to Marco and Krista.
