Sacrifice

August's p.o.v.

Mount Tamalpais

I groaned as I opened my eyes, the world spinning.

Everything had a red tint to it, my body felt numb.

I looked down and nearly puked, my leg was still gone.

I tried to move, but my body wouldn't respond to me.

I heard a wail coming from my right, I looked over, my vision blurry.

Percy was crying his heart out, Thalia trying to comfort him with a painful expression.

I groaned as I tried to sit up, then winced as I coughed up blood.

The world wouldn't stop spinning, forcing me to lay my head back down.

I started to breathe quickly, then realized I was hyperventilating.

My leg was gone. My body useless. Our quest failed, bringing nothing but loss and pain.

My brother was broken, again.

I looked at my hand, wondering why it wouldn't stop shaking.

I looked in surprise, then screamed out in terror as a giant rose up from the ground.

His one eyes was wrinkled around the edges, his face scarred on the left side.

His chest was enormous, his white toga shredded a bit towards the bottom.

He looked at me, and opened his mouth to say something.

I can't explain how my body reacted, but I can explain the terror I felt.

Seeing him move his mouth made me think of the giant that ripped my leg off, sending my body into terror mode.

I screamed and desperately tried to back away, my body only focused on keeping myself alive.

The giant looked at me in what seemed disappointment and said in a raspy voice, "I am not that ugly, am I?"

I froze, the terror coursing through my body.

He sighed and looked towards Percy and Thalia, frowning.

" It appears Annabeth Chase has died. This is unfourtanate, she would've made a great asset."

Percy suddenly stopped crying and snapped his head up, his eyes full of grief and anger.

" Did you REALLY just call my friend an asset!"

He jumped to his feet, ignoring his wounds.

Every step he took towards the giant made the world around him shake violently, making me hurl to my side.

Percy glared at him and said, "If her life was so worthless, then how am I any better! I wasn't as smart as her! I don't have strategies! She taught me almost everything I know! How is she just an assest!"

The earth seemed to respond to his anger, making me yelp.

A few cracks appeared next to me, starting to make a pretty deep hole.

Thalia wiped her face clean and said," Percy! Calm down! You're making the earth around us break! "

Percy whipped around and said, " How can you tell me to calm down when Annabeth was just killed! How can you not care?!"

Thalis eyes narrowed, the clouds in the sky darkening. Lightning struck all around her as she stood up, saying," You really want to go there Jackson? Something tells me you won't like what it brings."
