“You guys have no idea how much I miss you!” I cried into my computer as I Skyped with my friends.
“We miss you too!” my friend, Claire replied.
“I gotta go, I start school tomorrow. I’ll Skype with you guys tomorrow night!” I wave and exit Skype.
My name is Maizy and I just recently moved from Canada, to Australia. Not my idea, of course. My mom got a new job that landed us here. I wasn’t too ecstatic about starting a new school and having to make new friends all over again. Once is enough. I’m going to miss my friends, Claire and Bianca like crazy. They were like sisters to me and I don’t do anything without them. It’s hard leaving them behind. But I can’t really object and I don’t really have a say when I’m only 16.
I have brown hair and pale blue eyes. I recently lost a lot of weight and I now confidently stand at 127lbs. When I told my friends I was moving to Australia they said that I wouldn’t be alone because I’d “..probably get a boyfriend in the first 5 minutes of being there!” of course I never believe them when they tell me I’m a complete babe.
“You have the perfect body, cute little dimples, you’re absolutely stunning and you’ve got ‘babe features’. You’re literally perfect.”
By ‘babe features’ they mean, thigh gap, protruding hip and collar bones, and “luck” (bustiness).
“Maizy, bedtime!” my mom hollered from downstairs.
“I know, mom!” I yelled back, annoyed. I can tell time too, mom.
I brushed out my long brown hair and my teeth. I snarled in the mirror checking my teeth. I slowly shuffled back to my room and stripped off my clothes. I turned my nose up at my pajamas, being too lazy and tired to bother putting them on and crawled into bed.
As I lay there restless, staring at the ceiling, I wondered how tomorrow would treat me. Would I find new people to be-friend? Will anyone even like me or will I be an outcast? I was drowning in anxiety and dreading tomorrow.
How will I survive my first day?
