The sound of crackling wood filled the silence of the night as two Nakamura's sat across from each other. The red head kept her eyes focused on the flames of the fire as they danced vigorously against the blowing winds. The male frowned seeing the concentrated look on his companions face. "Geez, I'm back from the dead. Would it kill you to smile?" He asked sarcastically, only to be met with a scowl. "Well...that's even worse."
"You realize you're being treated like some criminal, right?" She asks with a raised brow.
"It's not like it's the first time, Ryder." He shrugs pushing his brown locks back from his face, resting his elbow on tree trunk that he was leaning against. Seeing her frustrated gaze focusing on the fire rather than himself, Ryuu picks up a pebble from the ground and throws it at her head.
Ryder's eyes quickly snap up to meet Ryuu's blank stare. The two sit in silence, neither of them backing down from their gaze. "What happened to you being so happy to see me?" He asks making the red head's face heat up. Before snapping her attention back to the fire in front of her, keeping her head down in an attempt to hide her expression.
Ryuu smiles to himself before moving beside Ryder and wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "Usually you have a witty comeback to hit me with after a stunt like that." He says making Ryder turn her head to look at him. Only to see Ryuu's gaze was on the starry sky above them. "You don't have a lot of fire in you anymore, do you?" He asks pulling her closer to him.
Ryder paused, unsure of what he meant by that question. Not knowing how to answer, her eyes wandered over her friend. His chocolate brown eyes were fixated on the night sky, yet he didn't carry the usual dreamy expression when observing the sky. His eyes were tired and he wore a sad smile on his face. Then Ryuu's question started to make sense to her.
"...I'm sorry." Ryder apologized quietly, leaning her head into his embrace. "Lord Death's suspicions of you have me on edge...what if we don't pass?"
Resting his head on top of Ryder's, Ryuu let out a deep sigh. "...We will. You believe it's me, don't you?"
"Of course I do. It's just-"
"Then that's all that matters." He states with a smile giving her a squeeze.

Within the walls of the Death manor, was a very uneasy Reaper as he waited for his weapons to be ready for school. Leaning against the wall by the exit with arms crossed, he tapped his fingers impatiently against his bicep.
It had only been one day after the group had returned from London and the situation was already giving him a headache. Unfortunately, his father decided that no other student was allowed to be around when he decided how to handle the situation.
So there the reaper stood, racking his brain of all the possibilities his father could have chosen of how to deal with someone who "arose from the dead". As he waited, his patience slowly left his being before he decided to leave his weapons behind and get the answers he was looking for.
Approaching the entrance of the DWMA, Kid was broken out of his thoughts seeing his friends already outside. The first to notice the reaper was Maka.
"Hey, Kid." Maka greeted as he approached them, her voice was low and slightly uneven. He could tell by the tired look in her eyes that she was consumed with worry.
Before she could continue, Kid shook his head. Already knowing the question that she had been waiting to hear the answer to all night. "I'm sorry, I haven't been updated." He sighs, the miesters face dropped.
"Still?" Her white haired partner asks in disbelief. "How uncool."
"Does that mean it's bad?" Tsubaki asks worriedly. The silence that fell upon the group was heavy as they thought of their new friend.
