Ryder's POV:
I sat in front of the glass doors to the balcony with my knees tucked under my chin as I hugged my legs. It was late into the next day, about 8. Kid has left me alone and it seemed he warded everyone off as well. I had heard guests at the front door. There had even been a bag of sweets left outside on the balcony when I woke up.
It seemed as if everyone was worried.
"But that doesn't matter..." I say blankly to my reflection in the glass. I was thinking of everything and nothing at the same time, my mind was fuzzy. Almost sounded of static in my ears when I tried to think.
However, one thing kept popping in my mind.
The demon...where is he now?
My mind traveled to the possibilities of if I knew where he was..
You do know where he is.
But will you actually do it?
The image of Ryuu's goofy smile popped in my head, his laugh rang in my ears and his caring touch haunted my skin.
I stood up and pressed my hand against the cold glass. If I leave...there's a chance that Lord Death may not accept me back into Death City.
There's a chance of never coming back at all..
Letting out a sigh I walked over to the closet full of the clothes that was bought on our shopping trip. Pulling out black highwaisted leggings, black combat boots and a red tank top, I got dressed.
I should have never let go of him.
Looking in the mirror, I tied my long crimson hair in a ponytail before tying a cloth mask that covered my face except my eyes. Staring into my reflection I felt the heavy emptiness of my decision. "You have to..." I said to myself before picking up my sword and black leather jacket from the bed. After adjusting my sword on my back I pulled up the grey hood of my jacket over my head.
Third POV
Ryder stood at the border of Death City staring at the desert in front of her. She took a deep breath before taking a step toward the sand.
"What are you doing out here?" A raspy voice asked making Ryder turn her head to see Blackstar laying on his back on the roof of a nearby building. Ryder looked at him blankly, she noticed his forehead was covered in sweat.
'Was he really working out at this hour?' She thought to herself in shock.
Blackstar sat up resting his forearms on his thighs and leaning forward with a raised brow. "What's with the mask? It doesn't really work if I can recognize you."
"It's not for you." Ryder responded before letting out a sigh. 'So much for leaving...'
"Are you going to find it?" He asks making her look at him with an expressionless face. "That thing that got your friend." He clarified. Staring at Blackstar Ryder contemplated explaining herself to him. What does what he thinks matter to her anyways? "I'm assuming you haven't told anyone, not even Kid." He says as he slowly gets to his feet. "Where is this guy?"
"....What does it matter to you?" Ryder responds watching Blackstar carefully as he stretched his arms and rolled his shoulders back.
"You'll get yourself killed going into a swarm of demons alone."
"I can handle myself." Ryder snaps at him. "Besides, all that matters is getting that demon."
Blackstar tilts his head at Ryder, her eyes gleamed at him with suspicion and determination in the moonlight. Reminding him of when he first saw her, she had been covered in wounds and blood but was ready to fight at a moments notice. "Where are we headed?" He asks after a long pause and gives Ryder a closed eyed grin.
