Ryder focused on controlling her breathing. In and out. Then released the the arrow in between her fingertips, watching as it flew directly at her target. An apple in the distance that hung lowly from a tree. Hearing the thud of the apple landing on the soft ground, Ryder's mind drifts back as she feels the warm wind flowing through her hair.
"Ha! Keep hitting them like that and we'll have enough for an apple pie." Ryuu laughed catching the apple with one hand before it hit the ground. Another apple landed beside his foot as Ryder continued firing her arrows at the apples mercilessly. His pale hand reached down to pick up with apple with a chuckle. "That wasn't fair, I wasn't even ready." He complained with a smile on his lips, his dark chocolate hair fell foward toward the ground as he ducked yet another falling apple.
His laughter rang throughout the forest that held the sweet memories of Ryder's childhood friend.
"Was the food not to your liking?" A voice interrupted Ryder's memory as she lowered her bow and arrow that she was preparing to fire.
"I wanted practice." She sighs turning to meet the young boy's gaze, who stood not too far behind her. His golden eyes studied her as she lowered her weapon to her side. Her gaze was on him but her eyes seemed clouded.
"Are you becoming restless again?" The boy asks with his hands in his pockets, recalling the conversation he had with his father a few days prior.
After arriving back at Death City. Ryder and Blackstar had to report to Lord Death. Standing in front of Lord Death, Ryder keeps her head high as she awaits, what she believes, will be her final moments within the protection of Death City.
Blackstar stood by his professor, Stien and Death Scythe Spirit. The father stood there tapping his foot, seemingly annoyed with the Nakamura's actions. Breaking the silence of the room Spirit lets out a sigh as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you have any idea what could have happened to you in there?" He asked sternly, not waiting for a response he continues. "You could have been captured by those demons or worse... killed!"
"I believe she's well aware of the dangers, Spirit." Lord Death sighs at his outburst. "You do remember when I had said that you must remain in Death City, right?"
"I do." Ryder responds with a curt nod. The Nakamura stood tall, her head high with a neutral look on her face yet her eyes seemed rather tired. She had just wanted this to be over with so she may move on with her life. Whatever may become of it.
"Well, explain yourself!" Spirit scowled in a fatherly tone. "Not only did you disobey Lord Death but you endangered a student of the academy!"
"Don't yell at her, just let her talk." Stein pipes in letting out a cloud of smoke from his cigarette.
"Well she-"
"I wanted to go with her." Blackstar interrupted with his arms crossing over his chest. "I knew she was leaving and I made the choice, a big star like me wouldn't let her go all by herself!" He exclaimed looking at Lord Death determined. "So you see, that's why I was there."
