Hawks POV:
I was on my patrol when I spotted Endeavor chasing a criminal with a hostage. The man had a young kid in his arms. The little girl was screaming and crying in fear. It was sad to see something like this happen to a young kid. Flying down to Endeavor, I offered him my help and he took it immediately. That's how we got to this messed up situation in the first place.
Why can't he just let the girl get away from him?
I was currently standing beside Endeavor. My feathers were ready and up in the air. In the slightest change of situation, I would immediately capture him or get the girl out of his hand with the help of my feathers. We both stood in a hallway of this rundown school. Endeavor got ready beside me to fry that villain in front of us and that's when it happened.
It was happened so fast neither of us could respond do the situation the right way. Endeavor threw a fireball at the man and my feathers were ready to get the girl out of his hand seconds before the fireball would hit its target.
WHAAAAAT?!
WHAT THE HELL IS A KID DOING HERE?!
A boy came out of nowhere and hit the target. Moments later, the little girl ran to me while Endeavor went to get the criminal. Said boy had no chance of escaping the fireball intended for the criminal. I watched how the fireball graced him. I could smell the burned flesh. The kid only stood there and once our eyes connected, he sprinted away. What's more disturbing was that greenette didn't even scream or react to the injury the slightest. It wasn't a small burn.
Jesus Christ!
Me: Hey Kid!
He didn't respond but instead bolted around the corner.
Me: Wait kid! Stop!
Those burns... How is he able to even move with them?
The small girl was hugging me the moment she came to my side. I wanted to get to the boy as soon as possible so I bent down to her.
Me: Hey little one, can you be good girl and stay with Endeavor over there?
The girl was hesitating but I couldn't wait any longer! I needed to see that boy. He needed help more than anyone in this situation and something about the way he looked at me was familiar. I, however, couldn't wrap my mind around it. I felt sad and hurt at the same time, watching him recive the injuries from Endeavor. I didn't know why exactly but I had these strong feelings to protect him.
His eyes! Where did I see them?
I took the girl and placed her near Endeavor.
Me: Watch over her, I'm going to go get that boy!
Without letting him reject me or say a word, I took off. I gave him no other choice as I was already flying through the hallways to get that boy. The hallways were luckily big enough for me to maneuver and fly around. The moment I got to around the corner the greenette was already gone.
How can he be so fast with such kind of injuries? What was he doing here in the first place?
I dispatched some feathers in order to search for him and sure enough I found movements which were leading to the roof of the building. So I went there as fast as I could. The moment I opened the door leading to the rooftop, I was met with a scene that not only shocked me but also broke my heart. I didn't know why I was feeling so sad and attached to the boy when it was the first time we meet.
I watched him go backwards and all the puzzle pieces fell together. An abandoned school building, a kid that looked almost homeless, possible child neglectance, child abuse judging by his respond earlier while receiving the injury and the kid didn't care for his self-being back in the hallway. There was one obvious reason as to why he was here!
