I'm running through the backstage of Gramercy High School, the sound of Josh calling my name echoing in the empty house. I laugh, quickly climbing the ladder to get to the loft.

I pull myself up and quickly look around for a place to hide. Finding a clothing rack filled with clothes, I dive in, pulling them around me. I can just barely see Josh climbing over the top of the loft.

"Where are you?" He asks, trying to sound evil but ultimately failing. "Found ya!" He says, pulling back the clothes.

"Dylan!" I sit upright, hearing my mom knock at the door. "Get up or you're going to miss the bus." I groan, causing Jax, my german shepherd golden retriever mix, to yawn and look up at me.

"You're right, it's too early for this." I agree with him, looking at my phone and seeing that it's almost five in the morning before falling back down.

"Dylan!"

"I'm up!" I call back before getting out of bed and turning the lights on, managing to not trip over my suitcase.

I grab my glasses and put them on before glancing out the window and wrinkling my nose slightly at the rain. I change into some sweatpants and one of Josh's t-shirts that I had stolen last year before packing the rest of my stuff.

"Dylan are you going to want food?" My mom asks, pausing by my open door.

"Nah, I'll text Josh and ask him to bring me coffee."

"We have coffee here." She deadpans and I give her a look.

"Yeah but he has good coffee." She sighs and walks down the hall. I smile, knowing I had won. Grabbing my phone I cross the hall and go into my bathroom.

    << JOSHUA>>
<<DYLAN>>
     <<Can you bring me coffee?>>
<<Don't you have coffee?>>
           <<Yours is better and
     we both know it>>
<<Fine>>
<<See you in a bit>>
                           <<Love you>>
<<If you really did you
would bring me bacon>>
                            <<I'm not making bacon
at 5 in the morning and
before you try to tell me
     that you won't make
coffee, your mom will>>
<<I swear she likes you
more than me>>
                         <<We both know that's true>>

I laugh and set my phone down before brushing my teeth. I decide to just put my hair in a bun, not bothering to make it look good as we would be on the bus for a better part of the day. I walk back into my room, Jax still lying on my bed.

"Hey buddy, you want to go for a walk?" He picks his head up and jumps off my bed, padding off to the front door. I slip a sweatshirt on before following him.

"I'll be back in a few minutes!" I call out to my mom.

"Don't die!" I laugh and Jax and I run down the stairs of our apartment building. I pass the doorman, Tony, who nods at me.

"It's real slippery out there," he warns in a southern drawl.

"I'm not running today," I explain with a small smile on my face. He nods again and Jax and I walk out.
