Chapter 23: Some Truth

Wind breaking through my helmet and my heavy breath fogging my thoughts. The heart bonding in my ears did not help either. I was running my heart out.  Playing the game I loved with all my heart and not thinking about anything else but that. That’s why I love the game so much, not because I was good at it, but because it stopped my worries and made me forget about the rest of the world going on around me. The fact of being tackled scars most girls, but when I was younger being tackled was the least of my worries. “Rose!” I turn catching the incoming ball and running scoring a touchdown. My world stopped as the clock stopped. I could see people yelling and talking but I heard nothing. Everything was in slow motion. It felt like one of those movies where reality stops and the impossible happen. A tear reaches my eye as I look around. Teammates are running to me, but I can only see number 89.

I ripped off my helmet and ran into his arms, which was difficult because we both had gear on. “Mathew, did that just happen?” “Baby, you scored the winning point.” Is all he said and I knew I didn’t just images what happened. Without thinking I kissed him. Instantly I felt the wonderful sparks throughout my body and I can’t think of anything but how much I love him. The tickles and sparks started at my lips and moved through my body. Filling my thoughts and brain with lust. “Roselyn, go change someone wants to meet you.” Coach said once we pulled apart, while giving Mat a fatherly like glare. “Yes, sir.” I said my cheeks flashing pink and running off the field.

After changing real fast, not bothering to shower. I ran back onto the field. All the other player were celebrating with their girl friends while Mat stood next to coach and one of the other guys from his office earlier. “Here she is.” Coach said as I got to them. “Sorry, I don’t like spending any more time than needed in the uniform.” I said flashing them an apologetic smile. Mat laughed and laced his arm around my waist pulling me into his chess. I hit my head on the pads and groaned. “Mathew!” I whined holding my head. He just laughed. Coach shook head at us, “ Why it took you so long to date I have no idea. Anyways, Roslyn this is Sage Woods from the University of California.” He said talking about the man on his side. “Hello, sir.” I said shaking his hand. “Don’t call me sir. It was only 6 years ago that I was your age.” He say shaking my hand. “I’ve seen you play. Your great, at first we were reelected because you’re a girl but after thinking about it and talking to your coach. Will you join the team?” he said flashing an innocent smile. “Yes! Yes!” I yell not even taking my time to think about it. “Well Sage you’re not as stupid as you look.” Another man from the office said.

“Hello I’m Aaron smith.” the man said shoving his hand in my face. “Hello, sir.” I said stepping back into Mat more and shaking his hand. “I’m from Virginia Tech and was wondering if you want to join the team.” He intrudes some more. “I’m Sorry, but no. I already said yes, like you heard before you rudely interrupted. As well your school doesn’t offer what I want to do.” I said flashing him an innocent smile. His face was priceless and Mat started laughing into hair. Sage had this gloating look on his face. Aaron’s face through defiantly was the best, his mouth was wide open and he had this look of hatred in his eyes as he shot Sage a look. “Aaron, close your mouth it’s not becoming.” The third man from the office said stepping into the conversation.

“Hello miss. Fox I am Ryan Brooks.” He said giving me a small smile. He was older and had gray hair, oddly he looked very familiar and had a scar on his arm. “Hello sir.” “Don’t even try, she chose Sage.” Aaron grubbles. “I know, I need to talk to her as well as her brother about something else.” He says giving me a look that he had a lot of answers. Mat pulled me closer to him. “Brother? Do you mean Tyler?” Coached asked with a confused look. “No, I mean her biological brother.” “She doesn’t have one.” Coached answered. “Yes, I do I met him today.” I said looking up at him. The other men got a hint and left. “Rose, I’ll send you some information.” Sage said while walking away.
