I snap the diary shut and take a sip from my venti hibiscus. "I hate writing this stupid diary" I mutter to myself, unaware that Ella is still in the studio.
"Huh, did you say something?" Ella questioned. I came in today to go over one of the changes in the show, Ella begged me to bring her along so she could film one of her audition tapes for collage because she's a junior. "Jorgia darling, it's your first entry you can't hate it that much. Besides, it's better than actually having to go to therapy, they don't give you chai hibiscus at therapy do they now?" She winked as I rolled my eyes and laughed at her, she does have a point.
Hibiscus iced tea with 3 pumps chai is my weakness, no word of a lie if you buy me one I will marry you.
I look down at my phone to see a message from Amy. I've not called her and Noah 'Mum and Dad' yet, it just doesn't feel right.
"New year new me", it read, " first photoshoot of the year went INSANE - clients want me back next week for a follow up shoot! I'm done for the day, what time do you and Ella want picking up? Xx"I quickly glanced at the metal clock "5:40 already?!" I thought to myself. With the time in mind, I speedily typed a reply.
"YESS AMY WOOO CONGRATS!! So happy for you😘 the studio shuts at 6:30, so 6:15 pls Xx"One of the best things about being in Beetlejuice's studio without everyone is the peace, quiet and space, unless Ella is here. Then it's a loud, hibiscus filled party that no one wants. Except Ella.
"Jorgiaaaaa" she whined, "sing for meeeee!"
I rolled my eyes for the 10th time today. "God Ella, take a chill pill!" I laughed. She's lucky I love her because I still find it incredibly awkward to sing in front of people. Yes I know I am about to make my Broadway debut, yes I know I should be over it, I just get worried that people are judging me. Ella knows that best, hence the constant private performances.
I hook up my phone to the speaker, press shuffle on my music and pray it's something in my range..
Heart of Stone (The Six feat. Natalie Paris)
As I reach the end of the song, I hear footsteps and an eruption of applause. I turn to see 3 of the newsies clapping me.
And that is how Jorgia Taylor died.
No, no one died. I could, however, feel my cheeks blush bright crimson as they strolled to where Ella and I were stood.
The Newsies have been at 42nd Street about as long as we (B.J.) have, I think. I remember them coming in one Monday after a successful Papermill run with stars in their eyes, beaming with pride from ear to ear. Apparently they start their tour officially on Monday and I hate to say it, but I'm kinda jealous that they get to travel. I love travelling but I also love Beetlejuice, so that more than makes up for it.
"Wow, you are incredible!" The one with red hair exclaimed. "I'm Sky, this is Josh and Ben" the blonde one (Ben I think) smiled at me. Damn he's got a gorgeous smile.
"I'm Jorgia, this is Ella" I replied, nodding to my bestfriend. "I heard you guys are starting tour on Monday, good luck! It must be a dream getting to tour the country as a job."
"Yeah it's going to be awesome, I'm so excited to see all these different places! I've always wanted to travel, and now I get to" replied Ben. He flashed that gorgeous smile at me again and I thought my heart was going to explode.
We continued to chat for what felt like forever in a daydream until I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. It was Amy begging Ella and I to come out so she could get home. My heart dropped knowing I probably won't see the pretty blonde boy again, but as Amy said earlier "new year new me" right? I vowed to focus on me this year, and I wasn't going to let even the cutest boy change that.
We said our goodbyes and good lucks; as we were walking out of the studios onto 42nd street, Ella nudged me and did the wiggley eyebrow thing. You know the one your bestfriend does when they know something you don't. "What's the eyebrows about then smartass?" I questioned, praying her answer isn't the same as mine.
"Oh come on, you know.." She gently nudged me again and giggled.
"Know what? Just tell me for gods sake." Please please don't.
"That blonde boy Ben's cute isn't he? He wouldn't stop smiling at you AND you were blushing!" Oh no
"Ella honey he was just being nice. And plus this year is about ME if you remember, I'm not interested. While we're on the subject of boys, Sky kept looking at YOU, hows that going huh?" I winked and nudged her back.
"Shut uppp" she laughed as we finally got to the car and went home.
'Today has been a good day after all' I thought to myself.
