Calikit awoke a moon later to a faint rustling. A muffled voice filled her ears. "Do we have to patch up the nursery so early?" Shallowpaw complained. " It is SO early!" "Exactly." Oceanpaw replied. " Tansytail said a storm was coming, and we want the kits to be all warm and cozy." Calikit scoffed. "Don't you listen to a word Tansytail says!" She snarled. "Most likely it will be sunny all day!" The rustling froze. " Calikit?" Ocanpaw whispered at last. " Is that you? Did we wake you up? We are sorry." " Why don't you trust Tansytail?" Shallowpaw asked, raising his eyebrows. Calikit padded to the back of the nursery where Oceanpaw and Shallowpaw where tying pieces of vines into a small hole in the nursery, and sat down, licking her chest fur. "Oh, I'm a light sleeper. If you guys hadn't woken me up, I would have anyways at the crack of dawn." She said slyly. It was true. But now was the perfect time to get her revenge on Tansytail, for letting Chirpkit die. She turned to Shallowpaw. " Let me see. Why don't I trust Tansytail?" She cocked her head to one side, as if thinking. But she already knew the answer. She had for a long time. "Because she can't be trusted." Calikit answered. "Can't even cure a kit with a chill! You know what I overheard Tansytail muttering? ' If only I had stayed and given her more herb, she wouldn't have died.' " Calikit mimicked in a high pitched voice. Shallowpaw opened his mouth, but before he could mutter a word, she went on. " Don't you know I know secrets? Tansytail is not who you think she is. But, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." Calikit circled Shallowpaw, brushing her fluffy tail on his spine. Shallowpaw looked at her with curiosity. " Tell me." He begged. "Are you sure? Becuase I'm not so sure that you will take me seriously......." Calikit teased. " Oh, i will!" Shallowpaw begged. " If I must..." Calikit faked a sigh. " You know how Tansytail goes to the Moonwhatever every half-moon?" Shallowpaw and Oceanpaw nodded. "Well, you know how she sees the other medicine cats as well?" Calikit asked. "Uh huh. Get to the point!" Shallowpaw snapped. "Hey, if you are going to be nasty, I may as well go and keep the secret all to myself."  Calikit bemused. Oceanpaw flicked her tail over her brothers mouth. " Well, one night I snuck out and followed her, the moon after Chirpkit died. You know how my father's mother is StormClan? Well, the medicine cat is her sister, Trickleleg." Calkit saw their eyed widening. "So that was where you went? We were all worried sick." Oceanpaw exclaimed. " Well, Tansytail told her about Chirpkits' death. Trickleleg said. ' Good job. 1 down, 2 to go. Feed one deathberries at their apprentice ceromony, saying it was a special berry to help through apprenticeship. That should finish them off.'" Shallowpaw gasped. " I knew Acornpelt was out to get you, but Tansytail to? What does she have to gain?" Calikit shrugged. She wasn't lying. Every word she had spoken was true. " It seems everyone is out to get me." Calikit murmured, and by the look on Shallowpaw's face she knew he realized he was talking about him. " I am so sorry." He whispered. " I was just- jealous. Since the moment you could see, Oceanpaw fused over you guys like her own kits. I just wanted my sister." A tear fell down his face, and it was her turn to feel bad. " Shallowpaw, I'm so sorry!" Oceanpaw exclaimed. " I didn't realize. I still loved you the same, even though you were a furball." She turned to Calikit. " It looks like we all have things to be ashamed of." Shallowpducked his head. "Calikit? Where are you?" Foxtrot's worried mewed sounded from the nursery. " Coming, Mama!" Calikit called. She looked at her friend and enemy, now seeming to be friend and friend. " See you later." She mewed, as they resumed patching the nursery. She raced itno the nursery, for the first time truly happy since Chirpkit's death. Shallowpaw likes me! Not everyone hates me anymore! She purred as she saw Foxtrot, and told her, "Mommy, are you happy to?" Foxtrot looked away, not meeting her eye. " I am happy with you." She said. " And Stormkit. I just wished your dad would feel the same." Foxtrot turned. "I'm tired." She sunk into her nest. But Calikit knew she wasn't tired at all. Just lost in the thoughts when she was happy, and Calikit wondered if her mother, ever was, what she called, 'happy'.
