"I never want to leave this sunset town
But one day the time may come
And it'll take you at your word
And carry on. I'll hate the goodbye.
But I won't forget the good times."
~ Good Times, All Time Low
Finley's POV
Emma and I stayed in Toronto for three days. We had all agreed to move the show back a week, to let Alec heal. The girls and I had agreed not to do the show until TSTM could do it with us, saying it had to end the same way it began.
Together.
Alec and I facetimed every day. We still weren't entirely sure how the distance thing was going to work out, but he was coming to Thanksgiving with my family and I was going to Toronto for New Year's Eve. Plus, we had decided to go to New York City the second weekend in December with our families for Christmas.
The day of the Columbus show came fast. We were laughing and yelling the second we were all reunited again. We were all sad that the tour was ending but happy that it had happened. This entire tour had been about building relationships with another young band. Giving them the same chance 5SOS had given us. And it payed off too, we gained some lifelong friends, I found my soulmate, and TSTM gained a record deal from the same company we were on.
The hours leading up to the show went by fast. Ten Seconds to Midnight did incredibly well and so far, our set had been amazing too. It was finally time for our last song. We were all tired and sweaty, but so, so happy.
"So, for our final song, we're gonna bring the amazingly talented Ten Seconds to Midnight back out!" Izzy yelled into the mic.
"We're doing something a little different tonight. Usually we play this song before the encore," Kit started.
"And since the encore has already come and this really is our final song. We're gonna end tonight with our cover of "Afterglow" by All Time Low." Emma said as TSTM joined us on stage.
"Thank you for being such an amazing way to end this tour Columbus! We love you!" Alec came over and gave me a quick kiss, the crowd going crazy. "We are Hearts on Fire!" I yelled.
"And we are Ten Seconds to Midnight!" Alec yelled.
"And this is 'Afterglow!'" Emma finished as the music started.
"Step outside in the midnight rain." I started.
"King and queens of the streets again." Alec joined in, taking my hand and smiling over at me. We had a blast singing and dancing along to one of my favorite All Time Low songs.
When the song was over and the confetti was falling, Alec wrapped me in his arms and kissed me slow. The crowd was roaring but for a moment, it was all gone, it was just me and Alec. Emma broke us apart to hug me. We were all laughing and hugging. Then we all walked to the edge of the stage, and laughing and holding hands, the eight of us faced the crowd and took our final bow.
A/N: Ya'll, it's been an adventure writing this story and posting it here. It had taken everything our of me at times to actually be willing to post this and for awhile, I was gonna take this whole thing down. I started writing this story in February of 2018. It has taken me three years to come back to this story to edit and proofread and rewrite and post on here. It has been such a long journey but this is the first story I have ever finished that is my own characters and settings and everything. I am sitting here with chills and tears because this story is finally done. Three years of work and it is finally done. I am posting the final chapter today and closing the door on this book. Three years, and 60,000+ words later, 396 Miles From Home, is complete. Thank you so much for reading my story. I hope you enjoyed it!
