Mr Egg quickly shut his eyes

Makes sense that nobody wanted to adopt you.

His lip wavered

"S-shut up.. I'm t-trying to sleep..."

You deserve nothing.

You're the reason people want to die.

Until he's back, you aren't going anywhere.

"SHUT UP!"

Mr Egg quickly sat up and put his head into his hands

"Please.. just.. be quiet... I-I'm begging you..."

Mellow snuggled up to the bean and let out a mew of worry

"No Mellow.. I'm not okay.. I keep getting.. horrible words in my head and..."

He let out a choked sob

"It reminds me of 'it'.. And I-I hate it..."

Mellow let out a chirp, and let Mr Egg pet his fur as he spoke.

"I know he wants me to believe those things.. A-and I don't want to.. But at the same time, I kind of do believe them..."

Mr Egg let out another distressed gag of tears, and covered his face

Mellow gave a small chirp of sadness as he stood away, giving his owner space to cry

Minutes went by, and the two stayed silent

"M-Mellow..?"

Mellow jumped out of surprise, but gave a chirp in response

"You're the reason I stay alive you know.. B-because I know that we can't live without eachother, a-and.. I don't want you to die either..."

Mellow gave a purr and nuzzled up to Mr Egg, before crawling onto his chest and curling up into a ball

"Thanks, I love you too Mellow..."

Mellow, chirped, and closed his eyes.

Mr Egg smiled.. He felt a lot better now...

Even after everything. All of the shit he went through, Mellow never failed to make him feel better.. And he was thankful for that...

He grabbed to book from his nightstand and began to read.

Mellow began to purr, lulling himself to sleep..

But Mr Egg definitely knew he wasn't going to sleep tonight.
