Chapter 17: So Many Mysteries

The Stewardess starts to get scared when you look like you absolutely will take her to the Noble Consort. She begins to beg.

Stewardess: You can't do this! The Noble Consort will have my head! I'm already so old...

Xiu Ying: [Smile] Now you are scared. Didn't you stop to think that the Noble Consort will have my head when you set me up?

Your calm smile at this point just serves to scare her even further.

Stewardess: You.. You shouldn't treat me this way...

The Stewardess panics hard. With her age, she actually looks kind of pathetic. Still, her pathetic look is her own doing. You will not let her go.

Xiu Ying: [Sternly] Now you are scared? Then talk!

Stewardess: [Defeated] Okay. It was Matron He from Noble Lady Ying's palace. She paid me off, and I was still angry over you slapping me last time, so I agreed to put the drugs over your basket.

You were mentally prepared, but still get furious when you hear Noble Lady Ying's name.

Xiu Ying: (So it was Noble Lady Ying. She sure is active!) Continue!

Stewardess: She said the drug is not poisonous. It's just something dogs like. She said you are scared of dogs and just so happen the Noble Consort got a new one, so it would be a great opportunity to have the Noble Consort take you out.

You get a bit scared of what could have happened. Good thing you didn't hurt the dog. If you really did, then the Noble Consort would make you pay with your life.

Xiu Ying: Did you ever ask why Matron He wanted to harm me?

Stewardess: I did. All she said was she's got a score with you. You made so many enemies so shortly after arriving here. That certainly shows what kind of person...

You look down on her. She stops halfway through her sentence, scared. You won't let go of the Stewardess who keeps causing trouble. But if you need to use her... how should you go about it? It won't be easy to get rid of the Stewardess that easily. Might as well take the opportunity to use her. The Stewardess gets a bit shaky when she sees you staring at her, but she's too scared to really show her discontent.

Xiu Ying: You are a senior at the palace, and I want to respect you, but you keep disappointing me.

Stewardess: What do you want to do?

Xiu Ying: If you ever try to hurt me or my mistress again, I'll have you pay back for everything you've done. For now though, I won't let go unless you give me what I want.

Xiu Ying: [Smile] You are a smart woman. Someone is putting you up to all this, and that's the person I want to get rid of. If you work with me, I'll forgive you.

The Stewardess stares at you for a while, then folds.

Stewardess: [After considering] I'm not scared of you, but rather the Noble Consort's punishment. You better keep you word!

Xiu Ying: Of course. As long as you keep being good. Otherwise, I'll let the Noble Consort and the Queen know everything you've done.

Very few people know that you are scared of dogs. You were well protected back home. The only time you encountered a dog in the palace was the time from before. How did they know? Suddenly you remember, that you have a past time as well! Could it be that the person knows you from the previous life? Everything just seems like a huge mystery. It's okay. It'll get cleared up!
