two days passed and the day of the masquerade ball finally came. it was an annual ball that had different themes each year. the ball was held just to get everyone in the kingdom together so they could all socialise. it was something for anyone of any class to attend.

here i was, in my room wearing a hanfu that minghao had bought for me. it was a black hanfu with a purple-pink dragon wrapped along the bottom half of it. the waist band was decorated with gold patterns and the upper half was a grey dragon's head with blue and white whiskers. the sleeves were in the design of an arrow sleeve decorated with black and gold.

the mask i had on my face was one that covered my full face. it was a dull and matte gold colour with only the slightest shine. on the right of the mask was a small red rose that looked as if it was in full bloom. on the left side was a peacock that stood under the eye whole but stood tall above the nose bridge. the top of the mask were blue feathers with a light tint of green.

the mask was something jaemin sneaked in and gave me. although i wasn't sure where he got it, he said the people are gonna love it.

i walked out my room with the mask tied around my face. around my hip was a black leather scabbard that held my black sword.

while walking to the ball room, i heard a familiar voice call for me from behind. hearing their fast footsteps, i turned to see minghao, dingbang and jiang.

"you're wearing the hanfu i gave." minghao said with a satisfied smile.

minghao was wearing a flowy black hanfu with fire patterns. every few spots was a medium sized lotus flower with gold leaves around it. minghao held his red sword in his hand. on minghao's face was a black and gold mask that only covered his eyes.

jiang was wearing a basic white, grey and black hanfu with silver patterns and black bamboo branches. jiang had his sword hanging on his back in a scabbard. jiang's mask was silver with flowers and long chains hanging down it.

dingbang was wearing the most elegant hanfu out of the three of them.

the inner layer was a very pale blue while the outer layer was a midnight blue with white wave patterns. he had gold flower patterns around his waist band. his mask was turquoise with feathers and two flowers sculpted on it. in his scabbard was his usual sword with newly blue dyed leather wrapped around the handle.

"i must say dingbang, you look lovely tonight." i complimented the boy with a smile.

"i could say the same for you, general." dingbang bowed to me with a large smile.

"hao where's your cousin?" i asked while diverting my eyes to him.

"he left with renjun." minghao replied. i nodded my head in understanding before walking away.

the three of them soon ran to me and walked by my side.

"say general, where did you get that mask?" jiang asked while looking at my mask with furrowed brows.
