-third person pov-
a few days had passed since xiaomei had met hendery at her hut. like every other day, xiaomei had left for a few hours to hunt for food and collect wood.
xiaomei walked around the forest with her sword in hand. she was in search for things like wood that she could use for a fire to keep herself warm in this winter.
despite it being 11 in the morning, the snow didn't stop falling since last night. the snow kept falling and xiaomei was shivering. her clothes weren't thick enough to keep her warm but it was all she had.
she picked up branches and sticks on the ground and held them tight in her arms.
slow hours began to past since she left her hut. thinking that she was finished and done collecting things, she began to walk to her hut.
while walking down the trail back, she could smell the aroma of burning wood. xiaomei grew suspicious and looked around her surroundings.
footprints
there were multiple footprints that walked towards the same direction as her. panic began to fill her body as she grew paranoid of the current situation.
then, multiple silhouettes began walking towards where xiaomei stood.
"look who we found; if it isn't the dirty traitor of Cressida."
xiaomei glared at the group that stood in front of her.
"right here in the flesh. shall i give you an autograph?" xiaomei smirked while walking closer to the group. she dropped all the sticks she collected on the ground and pulled out her sword.
"oh? is general li going to kill us now?" the 'leader' of the group taunted. he and the other five people pulled out their weapons and held them tight.
despite their cool and brave persona, all six of them were mentally screaming. this was the former general of Cressida. this was the girl who became general at the age of 16.
"would it matter if i killed you boys? i am a traitor after all; i'm not a citizen of Cressida anymore. you aren't from Cressida either so i don't think it matters."
xiaomei took notice of the clothes they wore. Cressida was a rich kingdom. everyone that lived in Cressida wore proper clothes; new clothes. even the poorest people in Cressida wore new and clean clothing. if you were struggling financially, the royal family would find a way to help you and your families.
the clothes that the group of six wore however, were nothing like the kingdom Cressida. from xiaomei's observations, she assumed they were from the kingdom of Philomena. one of the poorest kingdom's out there that were power hungry.
"i-it's six against one! you think you can win?!" one of them yelled back.
xiaomei let out a chuckle at their form of confidence.
