there was a swarm of emotions that took over xiaomei. she stood in the middle of the large area, examining the emptiness.
"no no no..they have to be here.." xiaomei stuttered out. she was at loss for words.
how could no one be here?
"well if it isn't our royal highness." xiaomei froze at the familiar voice that spoke from behind her.
"sheng liqin.." xiaomei said quietly as she turned around. now, xiaomei was finally able to see his face clearly.
he had a scar that ran across his right cheek and another scar that ran downwards on his neck. he wore a simple all black hanfu.
on top of his outfit was a cloak that was the same kind of style as her mother's - long with a short train at the back and a hood. it was a black cloak with swirls of red - almost resembling red flames.
"ah, so you do know me?" liqin flashed xiaomei a sinister smirk, stepping closer to her slowly.
for once, there was fear building up in xiaomei's stomach. anxious and fearful butterflies were flying around in her stomach. her heart was banging like a drum, ready to jump out and hide away forever.
"and you, you're the princess, the general, the treason commiter." liqin stood tall in front of xiaomei. his build was much bulkier and his height made xiaomei look like a young teen again.
"i had my reasons to commit treason, you just don't know them." xiaomei spoke coldly.
despite the fact that she was nearly shaking in fear, she forced herself to sound strong and bold - even if her heart was screaming other wise.
"really? why don't you enlighten me then, your highness." liqin's voice only grew darker and darker with each word he spoke. xiaomei had never met someone as intimidating as him.
xiaomei said nothing in response. liqin backed away from xiaomei, turning his back to her.
"your mother is quite the fighter, did you know?"
"which one?" xiaomei asked, genuinely confused on who he was referring to. liqin chuckled at xiaomei's question although, it sounded more like he was taunting her with his laugh."the one that's still alive, who else? she's quite the runner when she has energy. it's quite surprising to know that Eleftheria's queen could run so fast and have such skills in fighting?" liqin turned back to xiaomei. his eyes narrowed onto the female and scanned her body from top to bottom.
"where is she? my mother, where is she?" xiaomei asked, taking a step forward but not going any further.
"her? she's in the village waiting for you. it'll be quite amazing to see how much we can sell the queen for. want to see her? then run, run before her head is chopped off." liqin stepped aside, making way for xiaomei.
