The morning was surprisingly calm, grey mists lifting up from the river as the sun's rays struck it. The clamor of the Varden was oddly muted and distant, as though the war was far away and unimportant this day.
And perhaps, to some, it was.People; skeletons, humans, and dwarves alike rose in expectancy of an event that had been spoken of the past few days. A wedding.
Roran's wedding. But it seemed so much more- perhaps because of so many powerful figures and races were gathering in peace to see a Dragon Rider marry a man and woman together.
So of course, such a historical event needed to be grand.Indeed it did, Lust couldn't help but agree as he stepped out of his tent into the sharp air. He could see the preparations from where he stood, cooks starting their fires and farmers prepping animals for slaughter.
A bit morbid, but easily forgotten when he remembered his cocoa. He grinned to himself, then went back inside. He had enough to spare for the occasion, he could get more afterwards as needed.

Dust was blinking repeatedly at the overexcited and overzealous scientists- yes, plural- before him. Omega was watching him distrustfully from the side, but he was ignored as Sci waved wildly at him.
"Could you bring them out please?"Sighing, Dust reached into his inventory and handed them over- not without hesitation. He was loath to part with them. Even Papyrus was worried, reaching out longingly despite being invisible to the others.
Dust forced his hands into his pockets as the prized belonging was taken over to a prototype generator.
"Ya sure it works?" He asked nervously, sounding as casual as he could.Sci flashed him a smile, holding up his phone. "It charged this no problem." He waved it, turning the device on. Dust paused.
"Isn't it kind of useless here anyway?"This time, the other one glanced up as Sci looked aghast. "You can't seriously have forgotten the cameras!"
"This is about the cameras? Really?"
"Yes, really! This is a historical event that must be documented!"
Dust sighed. "I'm not a historian. Besides, it's just a wedding."Sci gasped, marching closer. "It is so much more than just a wedding. It's a sign of tremendous change for all of us! Based on Alagaësia's history, it's just as important to them as well! Don't you see it? The wars that shaped the Multiverse into what it is are ending, our homes are disappearing with this end and ancient enemies are becoming allies. Allies. Look at us. We're talking casually without a single threat of violence or danger. It's not just a wedding. It's a declaration of peace and new beginnings, and of a new era for everyone involved."
Dust glanced drily at Omega, then sighed again, relaxing. "To be fair, we met a lot before as well. You were just curing poisons for us…. Could'a used you when we first fell here." He added a little sourly.
"What was that?" Sci asked, hearing the last part and not understanding.
Dust sighed and strode over to a chair, collapsing into it with a muted thunk and a wince before shrugging.
"Brom." He stated simply.Sci narrowed his sockets as he attempted to place the name, before blinking.
"He was that first Rider that created the Varden, right? You met him?"
"We did. He was dying. Poisoned." He gestured vaguely before staring hard at his hands.
"The dude had this.. aura. It was so weird. When we first ran into him, Saphira and Eragon, I could feel them before we saw them, and…" He hesitated. Then he waved helplessly. "He just felt like Nightmare in some way. I don't know what it was, but it made me.. us, all of us, want to help." He glanced at the entrance to the tent, sadness warping his face. "And even if we all at first hated Boss, he still started to care over the years, and that change is kinda hard to ignore. Brom just got an immediate extension. I don't know what it was. He.. felt… like Nightmare, I don't know."
