"Let tomorrow be your second chance to prove that you are better than today and yesterday."
-Ritu Ghatourey"Almost there, Caleb," I assure my little brother panting. I am running through the woods in the rain, carrying Caleb on my back as my husky, Silver, is running alongside me. He holds on tighter than before. "Almost... there..."
I see the light at the end of the forest, reaching the city. With a determined look in my eye, I push through the pain to reach the end.
Soon, we pass the final tree, heading into the city. I slide down the steep hill into the street.
Unfortunately, what's waiting for us is the end for me.
Police cars surround me. The men and women in uniform exit the cars with their guns in hand.
"Freeze!" The policeman orders. "Put the boy down, put your hands behind your head, and get on your knees!"
I oblige. I put Caleb on his feet. He doesn't let go of my arm crying, scared for his life. As for Silver, he growls with a look to kill. Slowly, I kneel with my other arm behind my head.
Silver looks at me and lays on the ground as if he's giving up as well.
Looking at my little brother, I grow desperate. The last thing I need is for him to lose everything, no less possibly lose his life.
"I'm down! I surrender!" I yell on the brink of crying. This was it. My time was up but please, not for Caleb and Silver. "Please! All I ask is to spare Caleb and Silver! They have nothing to do with this! I beg of you!"
The chief takes heed of my words. He looks at another officer, ordering them to grab us. Two officers accompany him, getting a hold of Caleb and Silver. Words can't explain the pain I feel to see my brother crying as he is pulled away from me and Silver carried away. Still, I had no choice but to stay strong. I gave him a smile, mouthing the words, "It's okay."
"Chief! Stop your men!" Someone yells. All eyes avert in that person's direction. Sounds like the voice of a woman. Meanwhile, I feel myself giving out. My vision begins to blur and I feel woozy. My hearing is slowly subdued by ringing. I struggle to see who approaches me to the point I can only notice their silhouette. As I begin to collapse, she catches me. They open up a bottle of water and give it to me. "As I expected, you're dehydrated."
"Please..." I mutter, letting the tears roam free. "I don't care what happens to me. Just, please, let Caleb go. He has nothing to do with this. Don't let him suffer!"
"Nonsense," The woman kindly replies. "Nothing bad will happen to your brother... or you."
"W-what?"
"You have received a second chance." She says. "Take this opportunity and start anew."
When I hear those words, everything goes silent and dark, but the one thing I feel is the tears continue to fall... and a faint smile on my face.

"Adon? Adon, wake up," I groan in response, feeling someone shaking my shoulder. My eyes open to a bright light and my little brothers smile. I return a tired, heartwarming smile before I pull him into a playful chokehold. He laughs.
Next stop, Musutafu. Please prepare to exit the train.
"Alright, Bubba. Grab your things." I say. Caleb nods. We grab our things and head for the door before the train stops. Soon, the train stops and we step out, arriving at our destination. I take a deep breath, heavily exhaling. After a seventeen-hour flight and a 2-hour train ride, we finally reach the city we will call home. I just hope Silver is doing alright. I cant wait to see him again. I then grab a piece of paper out of my bag. "Keep a lookout for... um... Ms. Kayama and Mr. Yamada, okay?"
