Who would've thought two measly weeks could compare to a decade. For the past fourteen days, we dedicated our time and effort into training for the show of shows, the UA Sports Festival.
It turns out I underestimated this global phenomenon, not to mention I've been living under a rock as well. Somehow, this school festival is bigger than any sports gathering in the world, the Olympics included. Just the thought of that makes it even more nerve-wracking.
Regardless, one thing is certain. I am far from deterred from leaving my mark.
I've already said my piece a few weeks in front of my classmates and the entire first-year body no less. There's no other choice but to back up my words.
Besides the point, the time has finally arrived. It is time to display the fruits of our labor and lay it all on the field.
Currently, Class 1-A is sitting in the waiting room. Some students are stretching while others rest at the tables. All of us collect our thoughts. Eventually, there enters our class rep, notifying us that the time is drawing near. Before we could even step foot out the door, last-minute words need to be said.
All attention draws to Todoroki, where he calls out Midoriya specifically. I look on and notice these are the same words he declared to me, except it is due to Midoriya possibly having connections to All Might. One may think the green-haired boy would shy away but no. Izuku stands his ground and makes it clear he is not holding back against anyone.
The time finally approaches.
It is now time for the be-all-end-all, the UA Sports Festival.
-
Fireworks and pyro erupt in the air. The stadium is filled with many fans, Pro Heroes, and countless spectators, causing a massive uproar of excitement.
This is it. The UA Sports Festival. Quite lively indeed.
Present Mic opens the event and introduces all the classes. At the same time, every class, from all departments, makes their way to the middle of the field.
I look around the entire stadium, in awe at the number of people who are filling in those seats above. Their excitement and enthusiasm really fire me up. All the more reason to give this everything I got.
"Now is time for the introductory speech!"
Once we are standing in the center, we face this year's chief umpire... Midnight?!!
I stand in shock as she calls for the commencement of the opening ceremony. Even worse, I slightly blush and question myself, thinking I am perverse just by looking at her. Did she really need to wear her hero costume here of all places when it is so... revealing?! Thankfully, I'm not the only one who feels the same. Denki, Kirishima, and Tokoyami have their opinions on the matter, too, despite the slight fluster on their faces.
Midnight silences everyone.
"For the pledge we have... KATSUKI BAKUGOU and ADONIS SMITH!!"
Me?!!! My class eyes both of us. Katsuki must've caught the memo or something as he heads for the stage so nonchalant. I, on the other hand, don't know what to do. Still, I follow suit.
Apparently, Bakugo was number one in the entrance exam, hence why he's a representative. But as for me...
I step foot on the stage, standing beside Midnight and Katsuki, facing the audience.
"Um, Midnight," I gently call. "Why am I up here?"
"You did a decent job in exams," She answers. "Well, that and you're a foreign exchange student. It shows we have diversity here."
