Zee was left with her mind frozen and her mouth tingling with various sensations. The kiss was brief but it was so sweet. She couldnt stop the smile that graced her face. She had to catch herself before she could squeal like some lovestruck teenage girl but she was a teenage girl so she didnt squeal but did a happy dance.
Hope.
Sweet sweet hope
They would meet again she was sure. She couldnt run yet but she could shout and shout she did.
"Austin!!!!!"
"What what, are you hurt? Are you okay?"
Austin looked at his friends face, the huge smile she had and how her eyes shined. It was contagious. He smiled too.
"First question, Is Kai on the no hitlist?"
"Ummmm why are you asking she isnt your usual type you know more feminine women."
"Does it bother you?"
"No no no, not like that. I'm not bothered but definitely surprised. Okay let me be real with you, the reason why i said family is off limits is cause you are anti relationship and i dont wanna console my sister and laugh with you about some crazy chic but in one situation. Am i making sense?"
"You are but this isnt about sex i promise."
"You guys are grown so you can make your choices. Dont hurt each other please. I love you both too much."
"I know. I love you too. Now help me with my papers for Berkeley i cant show up at their offices looking like this."
"Yessss!!! Whooooaaaaa Aly, Zee is coming with us. Yesssss!!!"~meanwhile~
Being back home was calming. You know that feeling of being in familiar ground, like muscle memory. You know how to be and how to move without even thinking about it.
Kai looked through the pictures she had taken.
She already missed New York. She missed her siblings. Only child turns out to be the first of four, who knew. Kai secretly always wanted to have siblings, somebody to have her back and be there for her. To cater and care for others isn't hard for her but just somebody to look after her in a non parental way. Now she has 3, of cause kim needs a lot of looking after but thats okay. She already loves her siblings unconditionally.
She would be living there for awhile or even longer depending on where she settles. Or will she ever settle?Rissa kept stealing glances at her daughter as they packed her stuff alongside Tammy's stuff.
They were ribbing each other as usual and it seemed like Tammy was winning.
New York had brought out a piece of her that had been tucked away.
She was a bit more open to the possibility of love, dating and relationships. She was just more open. The remaining days before its Berkeley living were awesome and sad at the same time.
Kai got the haircut she wanted.
Her bun was replaced by a curly top and undercut. The curly top was long enough to tie but not too short and a mass of curls it was. Tammy was enjoying pulling them and watching them bounce back. Rissa sulked a little at the lost inches but she couldn't keep it up, her baby looked good. Somehow looking like her father and herself at the same time.
Oh how time has passed. Rissa couldn't believe the little child who would watch the world sitting at her window was now a whole adult, a whole big adult going away. Sucks being a mom sometimes. You dont want them to grow up and now her world is getting biggger. The house seemed like it was saying farewell to her daughter, it was quieter and less brighter. They spent tge following days doing ridiculous things. Going out with some kids they had graduated high school with. Outings with Tammys family and Kais mom.
It was bittersweet, a whole role of film was used in the following two weeks. More than a quarter of it was useless blurry and unfocused pictures but Kai kept them all.
She printed some of them and made copies and sent them to different people.
Some were hung in the house. She's gonna miss her makeshift studio in the basement. There's one on campus but a personal one just has its perks.Tammy is a freespirit, everybody around her knows that. People used to push her around before Kai came into her life. Her small size makes people they can just waltz all over her and she cant do anything about it but now she can whoop ass if she must. She took defense classes and they have come in handy from time to time.
She's so ready for Berkeley and to have fun. And to make it better with her best friend by her side.
Cross fingers that they both find people to love especially Kai, she deserves to be lived truly and her too.
She didn't want to get her heartbroken again, boys can be mean sometimes.
Uni here we comeeeeee!!!!Goodbyes were a sordid affair. They werent flying but taking the long ass drive as a roadtrip.
Roadtrips were their thing. The love of adventure that they shared just brought them closer. They took Kais truck which had extra points for having space in the back to put all their things.
The parents were a mess of tears and smiles.Kai looked at her mom wiping her eyes and trying to look strong. "Ma I'm not going to war. I'll be back during breaks and i can fly back for a weekend. Now hush and stop crying."
"I'm trying baby. I'm just gonna miss you so much thats all."
"I'm gonna miss you too. I'll call you."
"Okay. Be safe."
"Mom do you have Richards number? You might wanna have it, he'll be closer to me. Wont that make you feel better?"
"Yeah. It would. But i havent spoken to him in such a long time."
"It doesn't matter. Give me your phone."Finally they were on their way and blasting an imagine dragons playlist. They had a mixed playlist to make it fair.
