Even though we've gained popularity (which is the reason ExPresso Shots is looking to expand), and we are definitely established, I still feel like somethings missing,

And then it hits me like a ton of bricks, and I wonder how it only just occurred to me.

Music. This place is missing some rocking music.

I take my phone out of my pocket and dial my boss.

"Keefe Sencen," his crisp voice states, "what can I do for you?"

"Hi Mr. Boss (yes I'm allowed to call him that), I was thinking that we should get a sound system in the coffee shop."

"That can work," he sounds thoughtful, "but first I want you to take a poll. We need to gain customers, not lose them."

"I'm on it."

So, I hang up the phone and tell Tam that I'm going to the print shop for a few minutes and then I'll be back.

Once I print out a short survey- asking if the customer would enjoy music and which genre of music.

When I return to ExPresso shots I instruct Sophie, Tam, and Brandon to hand out the survey with the customer's drink.

Once they're filled out, they're stacked on the wooden countertop. I pop open a can of soda and start to look at them.

A number of people write that they just listen to the radio, and honestly that works best.

One person writes they like emo. I laugh at loud. That's so Tam. I try to make eye contact with him to see if he'll give himself away, but he avoids my gaze.

Whatever.

Most people vote for music- though a few vote instrumental- so I text my Boss as much and he gives me the go-ahead to buy a sound system.

I scour the internet for the rest of the day and find one at Best Buy that I like.

I'm about to leave for the day when Keefe, my boyfriend, stops me.

Boyfriend. Boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend. I smile.

"Yes, Keefe?"

"Do you want to come with me to buy a sound system for this place? I'm going to head to Best Buy now and I'd love if my girlfriend would join me." He smirks. It's almost rare to see Keefe without a smirk.

I ponder for a moment, "sure, I'll come with."

So, Keefe calls an Uber and a few minutes later we are dropped off in front of Best Buy.

We wander around for a few minutes before I ask a lady to direct us to the speakers.

I'm immediately overwhelmed by all the choices. There so many different versions. How does one choose?

"I decided," Keefe announces

"You did?" I question. How is that possible?

"Yeah. I knew which one I wanted before we came."

"How responsible of you."

He shrugs.

Keefe and I head to the register and we pay for a Sony High-Power XB72 Speaker.

"I'll see you tomorrow," I tell Keefe once we step outside.

"I'll walk you home."

"You don't have to. Especially because you're carrying that speaker..."

"I want to though."

"Okay." I grin. I wanted him to, but I didn't want him to pressure him. With that, we walk hand in hand together down the street and towards my humble home.
