*Keefe*
I peel myself out of bed and look at my tired eyes that stare back at me in the bathroom mirror.
It's one of those mornings that I wish I can climb back into bed and sleep.
But when you have a job as important as mine you don't get that kind of luxury.
I wash my eyes several times, but they still look unusually red. I shrug and my reflection returns the gesture.
A few minutes later, Father, Ro and I are eating breakfast quietly when my Father suddenly announces, "Keefe you look horrible."
"Gee thanks."
"What I mean is you look sick Keefe," my Father looks me a look that's a cross between kind and stern, "and I will not allow you to tarnish the family name by going out looking as you do. So call your boss and tell him you can't come."
"Okay." I say with feigned annoyance. I don't think I pull it off though. I'm too excited to get back to bed.
Father pushes back the chair with his body weight. "I need to go now but Ogre Princess I expect you to make yourself useful and take of my son."
"You got it Lord Bossypants."
He glares at her then quickly washes his bowl in the sink grabs his personalized briefcase and walks out the door without another word.
"So what's the plan?" Ro turns to me.
I think for a moment. "Make me a tea and then...let's watch a movie."
Before Ro could protest, I make a quick beeline back into my room and climb back into my beds warm embrace.
Ro comes in a few minutes later holding a cup of tea. I'm glad I walked her through the kitchen and taught her everything she needs to know at an earlier point in time.
Ro hits the power button on the remote and the TV comes to life. That was the first thing Ro was interested in mastering.
"Which movie?" I ask as she drags a comfortable chair near my bed.
Ro takes the remote back and looks through Netflix picks. "How about this?"
"Five feet apart?" I ask surprised. "I thought you'd choose something far more gory."
Ro shrugs. "This will provide me with ample entertainment." She gives me a strange look which I can't read.
I shut the lights with the convenient light switch that's on the wall right above my head then the movie begins.
My emotions were pretty much in check, even though the movie was clearly designed to pull on your heartstrings, but when Po died the waterworks begin. I cant imagine the pain of losing a best friend, losing people in general hurts enough.
"I knew you'd cry like a baby," Ro smirks.
"What are you talking about?" I thought I wiped the tears quickly enough,
"So you have another explanation for those wet eyes and cheeks?" Ro challenges me.
I don't respond and we just continue silently until I start to comment occasionally to annoy Ro.
I have to admit the movie was pretty decent.
Then I fall asleep.
*Sophie*
I'm excited for Tam and Linh's party on Saturday night. At first Biana wanted it to be a surprise but then we decided it's easier if they know about it. We wanted to go shopping for the event. Correction, Biana does and she is dragging Linh and I along.
After work, Linh and Biana meet me outside ExPresso shots.
We share an uber to Seaport Village. They have a really nice mall and shopping area there.
We chat comfortably during the car ride, maybe too comfortably, as the uber driver tells us angrily to be quieter.
As soon as we arrive, we hit the stores. Of course, Biana finds a stunning dress at the first boutique we enter. I must admit it's absolutely perfect for the occasion. The party dress is royal blue and both elegant and fun.
We hit a few more shops and I still don't find anything I like.
Linh, though, finds a really nice long red silky dress that fits her like a glove.
I decide we should go to the food court before we continue and Biana and Linh happily agree.
As we settle into a table I see a familiar face.
I freeze.
"Sophie? Are you okay?" Linh waves a hand in my face.
"I'm fine." I tell her as I still stare at the girl two tables down.
"I'll be right back." I inform Linh and Biana as I get up. I need to know if I'm right.
I am. The girl at the mall at the same time as me is none other than my sister. Amy.
As my brain desperately tries to think of something to say, Amy's green eyes meet my brown ones. "Sophie?" She whispers, unbelieving, clearly just as surprised as I am.
"I'll be right back," she tells the two friends she is with then takes my hand and drags me away.
We walk until we find a quiet place then Amy surprises me once more by enveloping me in a hug.
"I've missed you too." I squeeze her back.
"What are you doing here?" Amy asks worriedly. She knows something must be wrong.
I look down at the floor and shuffle my feet. "The truth is that the Elvin world got destroyed, so I live here now."
"I'm so sorry," Amy says honestly, "how are Dex and the others doing?""I hope okay."
Amy wraps a reassuring arm around my shoulders. "It will all work out Sophie. Okay?"
I nod and hope she's right.
We catch up a few minutes longer then we exchange numbers and I watch Amy walk away, needing more time to compose myself.
In the end, Biana let me borrow a purple dress from her, since I didn't find anything I liked. It was a bit too tight and showy for my liking, but it wasn't too bad. Besides, I needed to wear something.
