"He's an idiot." I complained to George.

"Our mother loves the man." George told me.

We were sitting on the common room couch and I had my head rested on his shoulder watching the flames dance.

"Mine too, which I can't seem to understand either." I said.

A couple weeks into school I realized I was going to learn nothing in DADA. I wasn't too worried. The teacher in that position changes frequently. This year was the youngest Weasley child's first year. Her name was Ginny and she was the only girl out of the seven.

"I heard Malfoy is going to be their seeker. I'm not losing to him this year." I heard Oliver Wood say.

"George and I can handle him. I'm not overly concerned." I heard Fred say confidently.

The boys were entering the common room and shot a look at us sitting on the couch. There was nothing wrong with it in my eyes so I hadn't noticed at the time the looks exchanged between the boys. George was my best friend. Don't get me wrong, the Golden trio and I were super close. I also got on with Fred well but there was something different with George. He was just a calm spot and helped me rationalize things.

"Well Sparks, I'm out." George said as he tried moving my head.

"Okay, good luck tomorrow if I don't get to see you. You'll be great." I assured him.

He gave me a hug and went to join Oliver and Fred. They threw some friendly punches and laughed. I watched and smiled. The game was tomorrow and I knew it would be a success.

Until it wasn't. Harry had gotten knocked off his broom by cheating Slytherins. He broke his arm and idiot Lockhart tried to mend it. Rather than mending it he completely removed his bones!

Over the next few months things got... strange. People, ghosts and animals were turning up petrified. The teachers decided we needed to practice dueling and the entire school learned that Harry is a parseltongue. It doesn't bother me but some of the students were afraid of him with the Heir of Slytherin running around.

Then came the one day.. I was going to the library to return a book. I looked down into the window and saw a gigantic snake facing me! I blacked out. Next thing I knew I was being woken up to George and Fred talking to each other.

"George, that's not going to work and you know it.' Fred said.

"Isn't that the beauty of the idea?" George asked his older brother.

"Why not try it to see if it does or doesn't Freddie?" I asked with a strained voice.

Both of the twins turned their heads at me. I smiled and waved. They engulfed me into a Weasley sandwich telling me they missed me. I told them aobut the snake and they'd told me I'd missed the majority of the school year. I wasn't going to repeat the year. I refused. The school nurse came over to check me out and said I made a full recovery. I had to meet with Dumbeldore to discuss my options.

On my way to his office I ran into Malfoy.'

"Sparks! You're okay!" He said pulling me into him.

"Uh.. Yeah. I'm fine. Are you okay?" I asked him.

"Better now I know you're safe." He sadi kissing my hand. He gave a short wave and went to join his friends. I knew it was strange but didn't question it.

I finally reached Dumbeldore's office. I was nervous. I had no intentions on repeating the school year because of some stupid snake.

"Professor, I want to be able to move onto third year classes. " I said. Rather be straight to the point right?

"Ah, Ms. Sparks. Please take a seat. May I offer you a candy?" he asked gesturing towards the candy.

"Sir, please." I begged. Apparently this man had all of the leisure time. I wanted to get out of there and get done whatever Ineeded to and catch up with my friends.

"Ms. Sparks, if you can get studying during summer break and pass the tests that will be issued I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to move on. Now... would you like some candy?" He offered again.

I took the candy and smiled. It was tart and I laughed. I thanked him for his time and headed off to the common room excitedly. Professor McGonagall was going to owl me my study work to get done.

"George!" I yelled jumping up onto his back. He piggy backed me over to the couch and set me down.

"What's the verdict?" he asked me.

"Free! I just have to study and pass some tests." I grinned.

What I hadn't known at that point was that most of my summer wouldn't be by my lonesome. That was the summer things seemed to shift. I changed after that.  I can't honestly say for the better, but I changed. The truth was revealed.
