Alex’s POV
“Josh! No! Josh, stay with me!” Joseph screams; sobbing while hugging Josh. “Alex, do something!” Joseph orders.
My hands are shaking while searching for the medic kit. I rush to my room. I stumble and fall on my face afterwards. Josh screams, Joseph screams, this is just not the situation I can handle! Gemini and Essie maybe can do it, but I can’t.
“Where’s the medic kit? Where’s the medic kit?” I mutter to myself. I bump to the bed and find my cell phone. Should I just call the 911? It will be easier and they’ll definitely call an ambulance.
“Don’t call any Mortals!” Joseph orders as if he’s reading my mind. Great, now what shall I do?
I wander through the room and find no medic kit. I dash to the toilet again and find Josh still breathing, but very slowly. Joseph’s face is really pale and it just hurts to see him tearing up and just so hollow. It must be really hard to lose another part of you, and I stand there being the classic me who doesn’t know what to do.
“I can’t find any medic kit,” I whisper.
“Find something then, alcohol, cloth, just… anything!”
“Should I call Essie?” I say under my breath.
“Call Essie?” Joseph stands up and faces me while wiping his tears off. I pin myself to the wall; looking at him straight in the eyes. His eyes looks terribly painful and I clasp my mouth realizing that I regret what I just said. “She’s in a perfect shape; my twin brother is on the edge of dying here!”
“Well I just thought—“
“You just thought that she’s going to magically appear and help you. Isn’t that what you’re thinking?” Joseph sighs; pain still clear on every breath he exhales. “I’m the one who magically appear and help you Alex.”
“You don’t say that to Essie, she’s my best friend! She’s always there for me!” I dare myself to shout. Anger burst in my throat.
“Well where is she now?” He shouts twice as loud.
Due to our fight Josh suddenly grasps both of our attention. He stops breathing. No… this is my entire fault for starting the fight. Joseph falls to the ground helplessly with his shaking hands that wrap around Josh’s pale neck. But Josh suddenly breathes again and has a wild seizure.
Joseph swears.
“I should call the ambulance!” I run to my room and Joseph doesn’t complain anymore. Before I know it, a tall figure bumps right into my face. I automatically bounce back with that person’s effortless strength. What if it’s Aunt Judith again? A mini heart attack creeps all over my body giving me no strength to properly stand.
“Are you guys okay?” A deep girl voice comes from that tall figure.
“Ruby?”
