Essie’s POV
“You... lied to me!” I blow a cloud of huffs. I half-punch the hard bed as I groan in anger. Indigo— my father—exits the room to give us some space. Gemini remains the silence of the room, making me wonder if he feel guilty about lying to us that he is a Holy Warrior.
“Why are you mad?” Gemini shrugs. Oh now he’s being the classic Gemini: a jerk.
Why am I mad? He lied to all of us, and yet Ruby, Joseph and poor Josh don’t know any clue of what had happened at this stage. They are still Gemini’s friends and they live longer with him than I do. Yet, they did not know that Gemini is standing at their opponent’s building as their ally. I feel hurt just by thinking how would they react when they know.
“I don’t deserve this information, Gemini, but they do!” I shout, half crying. I can feel the tears pooling inside my eyes.
“They’ll know sooner or later,” he says so calmly yet again.
“Then what? Are you going to be casual about it?” I roar.
“They used to be Holy Warriors themselves,” Gemini points out. “You’ve just been here for days Essie, you don’t know! They want to be part of the Holy Warriors, they are pleading for it. They just want to be accepted and I made a deal with Judith, if she became the Queen of Holy Warriors, then you’ll get to live with...,” he hesitates, “with us all.”
I sigh and slump myself on the bed, looking down to my scraggly feet. I literally don’t know what to say or feel anymore. I mean, I’m okay with living with him and others. But it’s still an act of betrayal and he should’ve told the truth to us all in the first place. Gemini’s face make me even feel sorry for him as I slowly nod to agree of staying here with my father and him (at least before Alex and friends come). He chuckle freely while sitting in front of me with a very cozy looking spot rather than the bed. Meanwhile, Judith pops into my mind. Oh, dear, dear, Aunt Judith.
“Why do you trust Judith?” I question. I can imagine that nasty sneer upon her face that I want to slap the most and probably rip it off.
“Believe me, this time, you should trust her,” he response with surprisingly no doubt. Excuse me? Did Judith just brainwash him or did he just have amnesia of the time that Judith tried to get rid of me and kill me?
“Are you insane?” I arch an eyebrow out.
“Oh I never been insane, for people am usually insane of me,” he smirks.
“Please Gemini; get rid of your narcissistic side for a second.”
He pouts and chuckle afterward. He is very aware of his beautiful face, isn’t he? I roll my eyes for thehundredth time as a response. “The only thing she wants is the throne to be the Queen of Holy Warriors. Once you came, she realized that you obviously have stronger powers than her. But, I let her to be the Queen and everyone doesn’t care that much either.”
I chuckle, knowing that she would be a bad Queen to all of the Holy Warriors and Warriors. Gemini knows it too of course, but he has a plan of his own if Judith becomes a bad Queen. He probably drags us to the world without Judith as a Queen which is the Mortal world. We then smile at the same time and for the first time in the longest time, we stare at each other like the world doesn’t matter; or at least that’s how I feel.
“I can’t wait to show you around.” Gemini rise up from his seat and walk towards me.
“I can’t wait too—”
My words are barely finished when his strong hands wrap around my bony waist, and his face grow nearer until I can strongly feel his breath brushing through my skin. My eyelids are somehow heavier than before as I finally shut it down. Before I am aware of it, his soft lips gently collide with mine while I feel it slowly move in sync. This is the first proper kiss I had with Gemini, excluding the previous one when he’s ‘drunk’.
BAM! The double doors are brutally opened as we automatically pull the kiss in alarm. Joseph and Alex prompt into the room while their breathing are short and barely in their control. We both stare at them with confussion and glad at the same time.
“Alex, Joseph,” I call their names. “I’m so glad you’re here, I know you—”
Once again, someone cut my words. It is Alex now who is frantically searching for my eyes. “Essie, listen. Listen to me,” he pants. I nod, letting him to continue his words. “You need to run as fast as you can with Gemini. Go! Run!”
Without further thinking, I jump out of the bed and drag Gemini with me to simply escape from the window nearby. I don’t even bother to ask what happened because I know it’s bad and it has something to do with either Holy Warriors or worse, Aunt Judith. But we aren’t fast enough until someone actually drags me backwards. I catch a glimpse of the culprit. It is not surprising anymore that it’s Aunt Judith, or may I say the Queen?
“What do you want? Kill me?” I shout at her, challenging death to fetch my soul.
She doesn’t answer, but she let out that nasty, nasty sneer of hers that makes my rage grow higher. I pull myself from her grip to face her myself. But the upcoming words break my punch from hitting her face that deserves it.
“Inject him the Black Warrior’s blood,” she orders her men to approach Gemini who’s standing about two meters away from me. I scream hysterically and so loudly but they already did it. God knows what will happen to him.
Amnesia.
