"Here you go," you said handing an ice cream cone to Reiner. He smiled and thanks and you proceeded to give the others theirs. "You'll never guess who we saw at the ice cream place." You said as you plopped down in between Reiner and Porco.
"Who?" Reiner asked and Marcel and Colt craned their heads towards you in curiosity.
"Jean and Marco!" You said smiling. Reiner flinched slightly.
"Marco?" You rubbed his shoulder reassuringly.
"Yeah. He's good. It was really good to see them again."
Reiner nodded slowly. "That's good. I suppose they'll want to hang out at some point?"
"Yeah. If you're okay with it Rein." He inhaled deeply before chuckling.
"It's okay petal. I'd love to." You smiled at him faintly.
Colt coughed.
"Right so, what are we doing after ice cream? It's only 3:30pm now."
"Wanna have another quick dip and then go home?" Marcel asks. Everyone agreed and finished their ice creams.
You got up first, dusting off before walking down to the water calmly. You were halfway there, before screeching and yelling behind you caused you to run, panicked and terrified. You didn't turn around as you were scared of what you would find. Unfortunately, your legs were no match for them, as the second the water came up to your hips, Marcel and Colt barrelled past you, almost knock you over in the process. Behind them was a furious Porco, his face almost purple with rage. He ran past a second later, a string of profanities leaving his mouth. You laughed and swam after them. Reiner walked calmly behind.
"Hotheaded, isn't he?" He asked you as you floated along. You smiled.
"Yes. But I do think he's actually much kinder and gentler than we know." Reiner looked at you curiously, a silent urge for you to continue. "Marcel is known for being a big brother, to everyone. But he also has his childish and playful side to him. I suppose Porco is the same. He just may not be as in touch with it as his brother is." Reiner smiled and shook his head.
"Your ability to read people is incredible." He said, causing you to laugh.
"You've always been the easiest to read." You say. Reiner looked at you, memories of the past flooding back.
The cold, metallic object laying heavily on his tongue. Short, heavy breaths ripping through his chest, clouding his mind as he tried to escape the world.
"Reiner? Are you okay?" You clicked your fingers in front of his face. He shook himself out of his daze and gave you a weak smile.
"Thank you (Y/n)." Your eyes softened at his words, knowing exactly what he was thinking about.
You pulled him into a hug, his head buried in the crook of your neck as the waves pushed against you. Both of you blissfully unaware of the cold, steely eyes trained on you in the distance.
Everything was packed up and the boards on the roof as you stretched and yawned. Porco had climbed in the back, staring intently out the window, even though the car wasn't moving. This caused Colt to look at Marcel who shrugged and looked and Reiner. He shook his head and climbed into the passengers seat. The sun was sinking as you drove back to the house, the beautiful colours meshing and blending like a watercolours painting before casting bright shades upon your skin. Your sunglasses on and the wind whipping your hair around, Porco silently raised his phone to take a picture.
The movement went unnoticed, until the shutter grave it away. It caught the attention of everyone. Porco's ears went pink.
"What were you taking a picture of?" Marcel asked, leaning over to get a look at his phone. Porco tilted it away with a click of his tongue.
"I was just snapping someone." He said, trying to play it off. Colt and Reiner bought it, as did you but Marcel saw right through him.
"Uh huh. Okay." He said before turning away. He watched his younger brother out of the corner of his eye.
The drive was silent and almost awkward, making you almost sigh in relief when you arrived back at the house. Reiner went to go get everything off the roof and Porco and Colt went to get stuff out is the car.
"Don't worry about it. We'll probably end up going to the beach tomorrow." You dragged yourself inside.
"I dibs first shower." Marcel said as he rushed up the stairs. You sighed and went to your room.
Thankful for the fact that you had the on-suite, you took a nice long and warm shower.
Meanwhile, downstairs Porco, Reiner and Colt stood in a very long and uncomfortable silence.
"So...?" Colt trailed off. Reiner and Porco sharply looked at him and he fell silent.
"Are you and (Y/n) dating?" Asked Porco and causing Colt to have a coughing fit.
"No? Why?" Reiner replied. Porco narrowed his eyes.
"You two are really close so I just thought you were."
"(Y/n) and Reiner are closer than the rest of us. But there's a reason behind it." Colt said.
"What's the reason?" Porco asked.
"I'm not comfortable talking about it." Reiner said, sinking into the couch. "Maybe Marcel will tell you one day." Porco sighed and sat down.
"Sorry." He murmured. Colt watched the two with a pensive expression, as a few minutes later, Marcel walked down the stairs. Reiner got up to have a shower next and Marcel went to go sit down next to his brother.
"Jeez it's so tense in here what happened?" Marcel asked, roughly drying his hair. Colt leant over to tell him, little whispers that were carried over to the second Galliard brother.
"Right." Marcel sighed. "Look Porco, both (Y/n) and Reiner have been through a lot already. You remember Reiner having a rough patch a few years ago?" Porco nodded, a frown on his face. "Yeah well (Y/n) helped him with it and they got closer because of it." Porco looked a little bit confused and Colt seemed to pick up on why.
"She isn't all flowers and sunshine and naïveté. She's mature and intelligent beyond her years." Colt said.
"Wow that was really poetic, thanks Colt!" You said, silently padding over to sit down on the couch. Everyone stared at you.
"How much did you hear?" Marcel asked.
"Only what you and Colt said." You replied. "Right! So what are we gonna do for dinner?"

You had Porco cutting vegetables, Reiner stirring the pot and Marcel adding spices according to Colt's taste testing.
"Put the veggies in please Pock!" He obliged, and Reiner and the other two moved out of the way.
With everything cooking, you turned on Netflix and let Reiner pick out a movie. All the boys sat there as you finished making the food. You served it up and brought it to the coffee table for everyone.
"Thanks (Y/n)!" They all chorused before digging in.
Dinner was eaten and you started to get drowsy with the fullness in your stomach. Your eyes fluttered shut and your head dropped to rest on Porco's side. He sat there comfortably, while the other boys cleaned up and turned the TV off. Reiner walked over to him and moved to pick you up, but before he could get close, Porco had quickly but carefully picked you up and held you in his arms. With the smallest glare at Reiner he took you up to your room, tucking you in before whispering goodnight and closing the door.
