⤜Chapter Thirty-One⤛

The car started climbing up the mountain, the change of altitude making your ears pop.

Porco chatted to you about various topics ranging from things to do with high school to random things like your favourite animals.

All conversation ceased when you looked past him and out the window that he was also staring out of, at the lush greenery before you. Miles upon miles of forest stretched like a blanket over the land. You wound down the windows and breathed in the air with a goofy smile on your face. Porco looked at you, and your expression brightened by even more to the point that he had to return it.

"I'm happy you came on this trip with us Porco." You murmured.

"I'm happy I did too." He replied. A new kind of silence settled over the two of you. A calm peaceful and comfortable atmosphere with only the wind whistling in your ears.

"I mean I thought it'd be really stupid and boring, but you're pretty cool I guess." Porco decided to ruin the moment with a rather backhanded compliment. You smirked and rolled your eyes.

"Yeah well you weren't really the most pleasant person when we first met, but I'm glad you've warmed up to me Pock." You sassed back as you shook your head with a small chuckle.

"It's not my fault I thought you'd be like all the other basic girls my brother hangs out with."

"Oh my gosh for real his other friends are so boring and basic. They pretty much throw themselves at him."

"Yeah it's pathetic." Porco snorted lightly, making you giggle. "I have girls who do that with me and it's just so frustrating." He muttered the last bit as you hummed in thought.

"Did you date anyone back in high school?" You asked to which he nodded hesitantly.

"Yeah uh. Pieck Finger." He said, searching his cheek. You looked at him with surprise before turning your attention back to the road. "What was that look for?" He asked rather defensively.

"No no! Nothing bad! It's just that Pieck and I were friends for a while in high school. I'm just wondering why you and I never met earlier." You laughed nervously. Porco nodded.

"We left it off on good terms, we still talk and hang out. But I think she has something going on with some French dude."

"Do you still have feelings for her?" You asked, the prospect of him still having feelings for his ex worrying you slightly.
"Nah. Pieck and I are better off as friends." He replied honestly and you allowed yourself a little smile. "What about you? Dated anyone in high school?"

"Eren Yeager." You murmured your reply as you cheeks flushed crimson.

"You dated him?" Porco gasped with bewilderment. "You two seemed so comfortable and civil at the party!" You chuckled.

"Like you and Pieck, Eren and I left it off on good terms, plus it was only for five months. In the end I helped him realise that he was in love with Mikasa." You smiled, bearing no ill will towards either.

"Wow. Absolutely no awkwardness either?" He questioned, still not quite believing you. You shook your head.

"Those two friendships meant a lot to me so I did everything I could to make sure they were sustained." He nodded in understanding at your response. The two of continued with light conversation as you drove through the lush mountain range.

It was around two pm when Colt and Marcel decided to play I Spy. One would pick a very obvious thing, and the other would say nonsensical answers just to annoy Reiner.  They had been driving for three hours, so it made sense that they were becoming restless and agitating.
