Kailey peeked her head out from the corner once again, careful not to make a sound. There was no way she wanted to be heard or seen, that would interrupt whatever was going on downstairs between Sam and Mika.
She'd known something was going on between them after she'd seen Sam carrying Mika down that hallway, though she hadn't really thought about it considering she'd been more concerned with... Other matters. But, now that that was all sorted she could get to the bottom of this. It definitely wasn't bad, whatever it was. Hell from how Mika was looking at Sam it seemed like perhaps there'd be a little more romance in the house. If she could only see Sam's face and hear what they were saying...
She peeked out again, fighting back a squeal as she saw Sam lean towards Mika, whispering something in her ear. Maybe she wasn't so far off after all. Those two would be adorable together if she were completely honest. Especially considering, deep down, Sam was a huge softie, even if he acted all tough all the time.
Usually, she'd talk to Luka about this but he was still a bit distant and, even if it killed her, she needed to give him space. So, she wouldn't bother him, at least not whilst he was training. He'd left just after he'd finished braiding her hair and she hadn't stopped him, it's not like he was gonna be alone so it wasn't too bad she supposed...
"Kailey, what are you doing?" James asked, thankfully not loud enough to garner the attention of the two downstairs but still enough to startle her.
She spun around, aggressively shushing him.
"I'm spying, duh. Now shush, you're gonna get me caught," She whispered, turning back to the two. The conversation looked like it was finishing up so she'd have to go down soon, making it look like she'd just finished getting ready.
From behind her, she could hear James sighing then felt him move closer, leaning over her to peer behind the corner. He scoffed quietly, stepping away and gently spinning her around to face him again, a singular eyebrow raised.
"Why on Earth are you spying on our Brother?" He asked, vaguely amused.
"Because something is going on between him and Mika and I wanna know what. Especially considering I highly doubt either of them will actually tell me," She said, her voice a hushed whisper.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and almost perfectly hiding his smile.
"And you questioned why Sam called you a nightmare child the other day," He muttered, barely loud enough for Kailey to hear but she caught it.
"Rude!! A nightmare teenager I could understand but I was an absolute delight as a child." She huffed, spinning on her heel and turning back to focus on what was going on.
Unfortunately, she wasn't as careful as before and ended up face to face with a now very confused- and also very red- Sam. Kailey forced a winning smile onto her face, trying her best to not seem suspicious and, in the process, seeming more suspicious than ever.
"Hey, Kails... What are you doing?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing, just going to school... As our lovely brother can attest to, I was just telling him how excited I am to be going to school today. Isn't that right James?" She said pointedly, turning to address James who was still standing behind the corner.
He stepped out, glaring slightly at his sister before addressing Sam.
"It seems our sister has taken an interest in your relationship with Mika, tread lightly," He said, patting Sam on the back as he made his way down the stairs. "Have a good day at school ladies," He called, not looking back at the two people he was addressing as he walked back out to the gazebo.
